Sorry i havent done this guys. life went back to 100% and im working 6-7 days a week, couple that with spending time with the missus and the dog, and mates, its just gets busy.

I promise it will happen, and ill document the whole thing.

If anyone buys this and needs a walkthrough your more then welcome to give me a call, and i can talk you through it.

Seeing its cheaper, and better then any tmic on the market, you just cant go wrong.

Did you try to get the engine cover back on Dan?

No the fmic's don't allow the standard air box

But if you keen to keep the stock look with the air box. My pipe work would only hit the bottom back end corner of the box. So I'm sure you could mod the box if you wanted.

I'm actually making up a new box myself.... First DIY for this type of thing.

Thanks for the posts and pics, this is one mod I will be considering in the future for my car.

Can I ask why you didnt spend the extra $100 for the cold air intake pipe and filter as well? All of this is new to me as I've had turbo cars in the past but never modified them so keen to understand as much as I can. (I'm sure I"ll ask more than 1 stupid question before I'm done!).

Airbox, pffft, why ? just put a real intake on it, allows for better spool. But if you wanted to mod the bottom of the airbox to fit the pipework it would be a 10minute job, literally.
There is so much space on the drivers side its not funny.

I already had an intake off a 05wrx i had used on something else that just fitted right on .
Cold air intake plus a FMIC = win, great spool, and something that cools the air.

I actually did some intake logs yesterday.
Ambient Temp was 26degrees
running sports sharp full boost intake temps were:
highway: 29degrees
town: 35-40 degrees depending on how long i had to come to a standstill, these could keep getting higher if it was stop start traffic.

Seeing as this is cheaper then almost all TMIC's, easy to put in, and completely owns them on cooling i cant imagine why anyone would waste time/money on a aftermarket tmic.


As for the engine cover going back on, the bend coming off the turbo prevents this from happening, but simply rotating the turbine housing will achieve this. I CBF spending the 30mins that will take as I will be changing turbo's at some stage soon.

Stock airbox to keep noise down Otherwise more money to make a box with sound deadening...

Will have to get one once you put those pics up
