How do I remove this from my side mirror

Postby SSIKness666 » Fri Jan 25, 2013 5:28 pm

I bought a new 2nd hand side mirror from Subareck SA and I can't seem to remove the white part number paint. I have tried methylated spirits and all it did was leave blue stains on the paper towels I used, so I stopped.

Any suggestions to remove it safely and effectively while leaving the paint unharmed?

Thanks.

Window cleaner works for normal paint pens or whiteboard cleaner. Outer wise use a bit of kero.

Well after washing it and the exposure to the rain it has got, I'm surprised it hasn't come off yet. I am doubtful of the Window cleaner, especially if my high pressure cleaner couldn't do the job either.

I will give Kerosene a shot.

Thanks.

If anybody has any further advice, please let me know.

[big chunk of off topic material removed by Ric]

Best to use something like Prepsol Prepsol is a very mild solvent designed NOT to harm paint .

You don't need a polish a clay bar would get it off.

Best to use some Prepsol like Buddah said.

Sometimes I have found I can scratch it off gently with my fingernail if chemicals at hand fail.

Your best bet is to message Hamish_023 from Elite Finish and find out what he would recommend.

If your nearby Oaklands road swing by my workshop and I will remove it safely

If your using chemicals and its giving you blue marks you have stripped the clear coat off. Side mirrors always have very little paint on them so you need to be careful. Using acetone, nail polish remover etc will easily remove it aswell as the paint underneath if your not careful.

That's a negative, I live in Modbury.

Are you able to tell me how to safely remove it myself?

My other option I haven't tried yet is calling up Subareck and asking if they know, seeing as though they put it on originally..
