Best power source for a neon behind front grille?

Postby Dylan7262 » Sun Jan 27, 2013 11:56 pm

Hey guy's with my grille heading off to get resprayed tomorrow i am considering putting a red neon behind it when i re-fit it. I was thinking of just having it come one when i switch on the h/lights.

Has anyone else done this??

Idea's/tips?

Thanks,
Dylan

Ahhhh no.. Plus anything like that is just cop bait.

However, if you insist just tap into the Parker wiring and run your wires under the headlight to behind the grill

I have seen quite a few getting about down here and cops have driven right past them.

It is 100% illegal no questions asked. You'd be running the gauntlet with the Police for sure, let alone attracting instant attention to yourself. In my oppinion the mod is very tasteless and ricey but each to their own.

But, do as Sean said if you REALLY want to look like you've just come off the set of the fast and the furious. I'd consider a switch in-line there too, so you have the choice of it being on or not at night.

The wiring harness on the liberty does not provide sufficient power to run a neon. The current draw from the neon is too strong for the stock alternator and any circuit within the car, so you cannot run this light unfortunately in your liberty

OP be blasting this on full volume

:P

OP neons might not be able to run properly, perhaps if you still want to do this mod, then maybe a red LED strip, or a CC tube may work, depends if your looking for ambient light around the grill, or if you actually wanted the red neon visible.

I would suggest you put a switch in, find a spare bit in the dash under the steering wheel, there are areas for switches but are empty, maybe wire off the parkers, and then also have the switch so when the parkers or headlights are on you can have it on or off.
