If memory serves me correct the ( little bulb ) ? is not the MAF sensor itself but the 2 element type thermo resistors if thats what they really are?

I believe the light bulb you talk about is the actual temp sensor? I could be wrong here.....

The little bulb is what gets the voltage to maintain a temperature isnt it?

It measures the difference of air temperature via a resistor of some sort? thermistor could be the term? and by that see's a electrical change in a form of resistance I suppose? in response to the changes in temperature...

A MAF sensor on the other hand would probably measure the AMOUNT of air......

The little bulb you are referring too measures intake air temp. It's a thermocouple or thermister if I recall correctly.

My avg fuel consumption is 10.2L/100km according to my trip meter which is mostly urban driving. I'll need to confirm the old fashioned way My car is tuned though.

This topic has been covered comprehensively in another thread.

Fuel consumption is affected greatly by, driving style, condition of the car, the environment: urban/inner city/freeway etc. and tune.

15l/100km are common on 3.0Rs where poorly/stock tuned and driven hard in the city. Everything you do can help and a good tune not only saves fuel, the environment, and engine health but also yields more usable power and torque and even a better exhaust note.

Pre facelift 3.0Rs without SI Drive are thirsty and are getting on in age now, 2006 models will be 7 yo this year and engine efficiency will fall away with the kms.

Got my 3rb tuned last night by Kido,
Thrashing it the avg rarely goes above 11.5, highway driving it sits on 7. So good!

I have a MY08 3R-B Manual and can vouch for the 15L/100km in Sports# mode in city traffic. Depending on the run I get to work it can nudge 15-16L easily if the traffic is stop/start. I can get about 8 - 9L/100km on the F3 which isnt too bad.

Im still working through mine but it's looking like 11-12l/100 city and 8-9l/100 highway.
Apparently it has had a 'flash' tune to solve a detonation problem (I have yet to fully investigate this).

Correct me if I'm wrong but the sport settings are nothing more than throttle responce, not ignition/fuel maps.

True as far as I know that it's purely throttle responsiveness. However it's the only mode I drive in.
