How is your Dad's car going

Hi Matt, Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. Yeah I really should have, I recall Coffs Harbour raining pretty hard when I drove through so I just kept on going at the time. Maybe if you're free in mid Feb when I'm heading back down the coast we can catch up
Dad's Foz is going well, strong as ever. There's a bit of a debate who's goes faster and/or quicker, or at least feels it the power delivery between the two (especially between auto and manual) is completely different. I still think mine goes harder

I am coming back to Canberra in a few weeks so maybe catch up then if your in town.

That auto was getting some epic wheelspin on launch haha plus your Dad was not afraid to give it some stick!

Yeah, your car would definitely be hitting harder for sure!

Haha Matt, Dad loves a bit of spirited driving and knows the limit of what his Foz can do. Sometimes he'll easily surprise/scare his passengers, but glad you enjoyed the ride unfortunately I won't be in Canberra for the next few weeks, I probably won't be getting back until 22 Feb.

I've still been keeping myself busy. Made myself 9mm spacers for the rear. Went around to pretty much any bolt or automotive store around town trying to find longer studs for the top hats but had to settle for just normal bolts. Very happy that I've finally gotten rid of that bumsag!





And cleaned up the brakes. Silver discs with anodised blue calipers. Rears only pictured, because I ran out of blue paint for the centre part of the caliper in the front (it's currently two tone with blue on the outer part and silver in the middle)

Sweet the blue calipers look great with the silver centres. Thinking of doing mine in blue too one of these days.

BTW what "bumsag"? don't you mean frontlift?

Thanks Stu! The silver centres and blue brakes make such a huge difference. Even better on the front where the silver highlights the ventilated discs. Couldn't stand the unpainted/half rusted look.
Mainly the bumsag to level out the Tein springs in a fatass wagon. If I could, I would have lowered the 'frontlift', but that wouldn't be practical at all!

I fixed up some nitpicky issues with my Ultrex grille....
Took STI badge off.
Stripped the dodgy black paintjob. Found out the carbon fibre underneath was dodgy in some spots but good in others.
I decided that I'd keep the main visible surface area carbon fibre and have the outside part in satin black. This covered all the dodgy minor imperfections. Used fine lining tape to get a crisp edge along the black outer part.
The mesh was sprayed gloss black.
Some might notice that Ultrex grilles sag between the bonnet line and there's a gap between the bottom of the grille and the bumper bar. Well, I killed two birds with one stone. Made up a reinforcing bracket which pushed the lower part of the grille down and top part up. Sprayed that bracket matt black, and the result; both gaps eliminated and a brand new look!

I did more painting for a bit more uniqueness. I previously had plans to black out the centre support bar in the lower air dam but thought it would look weird on a few angles having a black wedge on the lower surface, hard to explain, if you look at it you'll notice. So anyway, instead I blacked out the entire lower air dam. It makes it look much bigger, neater and more aggressive IMO. I used satin black, haven't given it a polish but when I do, I should be able to get a fair bit of shine into it.





Also, added a bit of engine bling. When I had my dump pipe installed, the exhaust shop chucked out both the turbo heat shield and bracket. Luckily the bracket is the same as Foresters, so I found one in a pile of Dad's spare parts. And with a bit of cutting (to clear the steering knuckle), on went the Cobb Tuning turbo heat shield.

And I really like the satin lower section..... Matches the fog light surrounds!!! Tidy !

Haha, I thought the same thing about the grille badge when I first put it on, Tom. It's the same sized badge from the original grille with the chrome 'wings'. It looks more in proportion in person.

I bought myself some Silvatec Chrome Indicator Bulbs - ebay special from UK. I did a quick search on them and other car forums have said they're pretty good and they're happy with them. They were pretty cheap imo, so I bought two pairs, for front and rear.

I used to question why anybody would bother with such a small mod, but now I realise the huge difference it makes. One of my favourite little mods on the car
