I was hoping to build them prior to picking up the speakers.....that way I know I won't rush them, I guess I'll wait until I have the speakers in hand.

I built the spacers in 16mm MDF, I don't know why mine would be any different to anyone else's but this template does not fit my 07 2.5i. The holes will not line up no matter what orientation I tried.

I'll make a template from the stock speakers and post if anyone is interested.

I've got an 05 2.5i (can't imagine the doors/electric window mechs/lock mechs will be different) and will be putting in some Focals within the next few weeks so an additional template would be great thanks. What did you use to make them?

Come to think of it now, that template was only slightly off.

At the time I printed it and made sure the holes lined up prior to cutting any wood. But IIRC the holes needed to be drilled a little further out from the centre of the spacer.

Here is a quick and nasty template created from the actual speaker that came out of the door. Make sure you set your printer for actual size. BTW, don't drill the speaker mount holes until the spacer is attached to the car, that way you can square up the speaker a little.

The spacer on the 1st page is for "GD" Impreza's (and probably Forester's).
Went thru that a few years ago - if anyone wants a set of those, cut out of plastic PM me.

I ended up getting a set from some guy in the US that did fit, but had to trim the I.D to suit the D.D's.

So I still don't have speaker spacers. Went to Xtreme Car Audio to see if they'd fabricate some spacers for me, all the guy wanted to do was argue with me saying that your standard pre fab ones will fit blah blah blah..

'Just drill 4 holes into the metal and whack it on there, then screw the speaker into it.. You can't see it behind the grill anyway. This is just a waste of my time and your money'

Too funny mate. I had a guy at Tower Audio tell me how quick he could make me mdf spacers. It turned out to be cheaper buying online on ebay for a pair made from ABS plastic. He kept trying to tell me my thinking was wrong blah blah ...some weird people out there.
