^^ This.

I'm in a similar predicament myself, though without the cracked head (touch wood). But car has 212,000k's on it, as a MY03. Wanted a B4, but can't bring myself to essentially "downgrade" to a MY01-02, with another 180,000k's ish, and then find myself with the same choice in a year and a half. My plan of attack at the moment, is to save for longer, and start looking around the MY06 3.0RB or GT range. Probably 3.0RB Spec B at this stage. Having said that though, throw a big repair in the mix like your's, and you have yourself a problem. I'd hate to sell a car with that big a problem, Karma is a K*%T!

Of course, but if he is like me and he has a personal attachment to his car, conversion would be fun

Our cars are known for developing an external head gasket leak. I had the head gaskets done on my car not all that long ago. It was a $2000 job. Is it just leaking a little coolant and not overheating? How long until you are off your P's? I would decide if its worth it, or if you are planning to upgrade once you are off your P's to something with a turbo.
2001 Liberty Heritage. RFRB grill sprayed Matt black, front lip, legacy rear garnish, LED rear number plate lights, lowered on ISC N1 coilovers, Rota Grid 18x8.5 in Matt black, rolled front and rear guards, HID's, tints and clear side indicators.

My old Gen 3 developed the same problem but at only 105 000 km's. I replaced all the gaskets myself and had the heads machined at the same time, it cost me about $500.

I do have a personal attachment to it as well  and a swap may be an idea in the future but not right now...

Coolant and oil is leaking and I got a quote for the same price and it is not over heating at all and I have another 5 months before I'm off my P's and having iturbocharged would be awesome!

That sure was unlucky and if it cost me $500 i would do it tomorrow! and if you are interested I'm happy to pay you to do it for me

So I have decided to keep the car and put in a gen4 2.5 ltr motor as soon as mine starts to kick the bucket!

In the mean time the show goes on and so does the parts list

I picked up yesturday a RFRB STI Custom grill and Legacy tail lights and also oyster gray trim instead of the woodgrain

I shall get some pics up tonight for you gents....
