Gen 3 Brake lights not working

Postby MILK » Thu Dec 27, 2012 11:07 am

I'm trying to figure out why my brake lights don't work in my Gen 3 wagon.
It's not the globes, I've tried a few globes that I know work. The tail lights work, but the filament for the brakes won't light up.
The brake light bar in the rear window lights up though.

I've checked the fuses and they seem fine too.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply newbie GT.
Could you elaborate a little?
The rear brake light bar works, so therefore the switch must be working?
What do you think?

do you have the correct globes, are the plugs receiving power for the brake lights, are you using dual filament globes where necessary and single filament where required?

is it possibly a bad earth somewhere?
Built not bought, it's a way of life.

If the high mount brake light is working then the brake light switch should be fine.. For interest's sake, I tried to replace a dodgy brake light switch in my car. When the car was warm it would stick but now it's fine.

Hi mate could be a different circuit but if bar working it must be globes

Just try put all new bulbs in for same of a few $ sometimes even new bulbs are faulty if been dropped at auto store etc

Believe me I've had this before and ran around in circles till I went to auto elec and he put new bulbs in and all was perfect!
