G'day all - just saying hi!

Postby GT-B Spec R Pilot » Thu Dec 27, 2012 5:41 pm

Came across the site by accident! Checked it out for a while and decided to take the plunge. Some great info from what i have read so far.

My current ride, a Black, 2009 Liberty GT-B Spec R sedan, #17 of 50. Had it about 6 months now, 2nd owner and slowly going through it bit by bit. Previous owner wasn't big on servicing if the logbook is anything to go by! Had 37k on the clock when I took delivery and hadn't been serviced in over a year but it was clean, straight and just what I was looking for at the time. I will try and get a few pics to upload over the next few days.

Mods so far have been centred around suspension- trying to sort out the handling - heavy duty adjustable sway bars (f&r), heavy duty adjustable sway bar links, strut brace, roll centre kit, anti lift kit, polyurethane bushes, etc etc. I am happy with the handling now although the steering is a bit slow for my liking... Next thing on the list is a brake upgrade so I am currently chasing a set of 18*8" STi wheels. I like to keep the OEM look as far as possible (a sleeper!) and the STi rims have enough clearance for the Brembo's which then gives me a few brake upgrade options to consider. Once it handles and stops then I will look at making it go!

Previous rides, VH SLE Commodore 253 V8, VK Calais Injected red motor, VS Caprice WP Supercharged V8, VZ R8 Clubsport WP Supercharged V8, MY03 B4 Liberty (heavilly modified),04 Audi S6 - MTM supercharged 4.2 V8 - fair to say they have all been heavilly modified and have been a heap of fun to own and drive.

Cheers to all...

A Liberty GT Spec B Spec R?! Never heard of that model before!! Photos please! Especially when there are only 50 of these lurking around!!
Below car has been gone for quite some time now... blew bottom end bearing and dealership screwed me! Now driving 2008 WRX with ~65k kms on the clock. Only has cat back exhaust and tune by KiDo at the moment! More to come... but slowly!

Purchased recently (12/11/2013), already with: Stage 2 Pedders lowered springs, rear Whiteline sway bar, Advan Racing TCII 18x8 wheels, k&N pod filter, custom 3" exhaust system from turbo back with Magnaflow mufflers. ECUTEK tune of some sort (hopefully soon to be fixed)..... now FIXED!! Now KiDo Tuned!
Added: HID kit, EZ lip equivalents to the front and sides, and various LED treatments, oem boot spoiler, [LGT WRC] plates, GFB Respons BOV for extra Pssscchhh! --> Gone... I couldn't afford it's heart transplant... but keep a look out, as it will come back on sale soon!

Different interior trim on some bits like the door handle, around the head unit etc.
Different grille.

That's about all I can remember.

Thanks guys... As far as i know, the colour coded (red/black) all leather interior is the only cosmetic difference internally. I am told (but I don't know for sure) that the sound system has uprated power amps as well. I did manage to flatten the battery not long after I took delivery of it while cleaning, washing and polishing though. Had the tunes cranking out along with a few cold beverages for hydration and didn't even notice until i tried to turn the engine over... Externally, no major differences to a GT-B but they only came in black and I am told it's a "special" black used on this model only. (Personally, I can't tell the differnece but i have never had the chance to see it alongside a regular black GT-B.) Pop the bonnet and there are a few red/black badges but apart from that everything else is standard GT-B. I haven't been in Canberra long but I haven't seen that many Qld plated vehicles when I am out and about so I probably stand out like a sore thumb to the regular Canberra members. Any local members, happy to have a chat if you see me around town.

Ok. I was referring to the 09 GT-B and I will hapilly confess to not being an expert. I will try and get a few pics uploaded which should make it obvious to those with a finer eye for detail than me. Sorry for the confustion...

Inside, the ochre leather trim also covers the door panels and centre console lid, complimented by silver alloy-type interior highlights.

These special edition models also feature a subtle black honeycomb grille, which distinguishes them externally from the standard versions.

Yeah no worries, I have just been through this before with another member who joined and wanted to know what was different with the R version, so that is why I know :D
And now you have learned something new about your car.
