Check your warranty policy with regards to tunes. If I were you and had warranty left, I wouldn't touch it. Remaining warranty in my eyes holds better resale than a tune would when it came to selling.

There's no way they'd be able to tell if you reflashed your stock tune back on to the car

You sure? I was lead to believe all the dealerships had gadgets to check if an ecu was tampered with so they had reason to void warranty. Then again, this attitude is coming from a Ford background who are notorious for voiding warranties for the smallest of modifications, because they can. Perhaps Subaru are different. If so, and you are 100% certain, mod away!

Subaru Dealerships can check to see if the ECU has been flashed, and how many times. They rarely bother, but I would think if you were towed in with a blown engine that they might just check. Also you may not get a chance to put your stock tune back into the car before it's off to the dealer.

The best approach is to have a tune only if you are prepared recognize that your engine and possibly drive train warranty is gone.

The other "option" is an MRT tune, as they claim that they will warranty anything Subaru wont. It's a big claim with lots of small print. Enough said.
Stopping is not optional!

An auto transmission fix alone with no fueling or timing tweaks would improve driveability immensely and is unlikely to have engine issues. Smoother transmission shifts cause less strain on gearbox... though call

Yeah dealers can check the ecu verification code,TBH I doubt that most know how to check it unless Subaru guide them through it.

Easily reset in RomRaiders new SSM feature ;) My Ex-GF has an MY11 STi, gets dealer serviced, is stock standard tune only and runs mid 12's. Some of the dealership guys have seen it being raced/tracked due to a distinctive number plate and checked the ECU... all stock

Not an easy process though

Well after just buying a MY07 GTB and reading this thread and feedback I feel I don't need to look any further for my tuner. I wasn't planning on getting the car tuned when I bought it but given the hesitation feature under hard acceleration I just can't live with that. I actually can't believe the factory tune feels so wrong under WOT. Plenty of power but not the smoothness you would expect. Matt I have messaged you and I am in Coffs for two days *wink* *wink*.
