5spd gearbox on 2.5t motor

Postby Mat04 » Sat Nov 10, 2012 2:07 pm

I was wondering if I was to aquire a 2.5 turbo tuned by Sti front cut will my 5spd box out of my outback work with it? As the front cut is an auto box.

Auto and Manual computers compatible?
Clutch and flywheel? What clutch are you running? You can turn a 5 speed into splinters in no time with an uprated clutch..
I ran 215kw @ the wheels through my 5 speed, ended up having to change it as the clutch was slipping, and I didn't want to play silly buggers with the 5 speed any more.
In short, it all depends on a) how you drive, and b) the clutch you use.

Just seen your post mate. What clutch you recommend dude? Standard obviously won't cope with the extra power.

I just had an uprated exceedy thing and a single mass flywheel. Worked up to a point.

I don't intend on launching it hard or smashing shifts. Just want to take off easy, come on boost hard. I won't push it to hard till my finds build back up for a 6 speed conversion. Than it won't matter if it breaks my box or clutch.

What I had was fine at 210 at the wheels, so I would imagine you will be okay. And, as a plus the extra torque of the 2.5 will make it nicer to drive than my "big" turbo on a 2.0.

Ok cool that's the numbers I was hoping for. Do you know if I will need to mix and match clutch parts or will a off the shelf clutch work. Do I use my flywheel as the one I get with the engine is auto.

You will need a clutch and flywheel to suit. They are a different clutch to most other subaru things. Call A&Mauto and ask them what they recommend.
