So hit the drags tonight, was a little disappointed with my result but not TOO much as my trap speed shows just how quick this car is now.

The best run
Best time I ran was 12.53 @ 112.95 mph, my 60ft time* can still be improved if I am willing to risk blowing the centre diff  I recon I could get it down to a 1.7 60ft if I launched it at 4000rpm instead of just under 3500. Also, my car is revving out too fast in 1st gear. Even if I try to manually shift it, it will hit the rev limiter and cut power for a split second before coming back on power in 2nd gear. I can usually shift it myself on the street but on the street I'm not launching it at high amounts of boost  I spoke to Matt (Kido tuning) about it and he said it could potentially be solved by reducing boost in 1st gear, but apparently he can't do this because of the EVC I'm using.

The improvement
Anyway, even though my time was only improved by .23 of a second (previously ran 12.76 @ 103mph), my trap speed was improved by 10mph which is a big increase and shows how much power it's putting out!

The bronze bushes
I ordered bronze bushes for my centre diff from a guy on the legacy forums at the beginning of the week. They say that these solid bushes replace the weakest point of the centre diff and will let you launch the car without having to worry as much about blowing the centre diff. Obviously not bullet proof but it's insurance. I think with this I would be keen to try at least one 4,000rpm launch.

Final analysis
To put things in perspective, I was launching at just under 3,000rpm, my 60ft times were about 2.15, and my final times were about 12.9. Launching it at 3,500rpm increased my 60ft times by 0.25 to 1.9, which in turn improved my final time by 0.37 to 12.53. I am confident that if I can launch it at 4,000rpm and get my 60ft time down to 1.7 my final time can reduce by at least 0.3 of a second and get me a low 12 pass! If I can also somehow fix this first gear revving out issue, I am confident I can crack 12 flat, but only time will tell!

*60 ft time = How quick your car makes it to 60 feet down the track. Usually this is used as a sign of how good your start or launch is, the lower this time is, the better your launch was. Under 2 seconds is usually a good launch.

Either way, I have been over the moon about my car since I first had it tuned, and having it retuned on E-flex has only widened the smile on my face!

Image

Comparing this to my original time slip, my car is actually getting half way down the track (1/8 track) in 8.195 @ 86mph which is slightly slower than when I was running P98 fuel, so it is putting on a lot more power in the second half of the track now!

Pretty much, and I was confident that the stock caps would do given that there are some highly modified cars in Garage 88 still running the stock caps! My zerosports ones were great up to my 210kw power levels, they obviously couldn't handle it over that! Unfortunately less bling in my engine bay but I can live with that

The slower 1/8th mile time could be due to the hit of the limiter in 1st just loosing the momentum. Get that sort and a flat 12 or low 12 is on the way.

Good work Rome!!
Not a Subaru...... Something MUCH better

NOPE..... That's shit too. Bus anyone??

Yep great work Rome like I said

Seems to be a common problem for us with hitting the limiter in first due to fast rev out

I was shifting pretty much after launch and still not shifting in time

Yeh that's pretty much how I reasoned it out in my post, that split second loss of power and momentum would make a huge difference to the time I recon! Also, here is an explanation of what happened on that particular run:

I launched hard, but didn't press the shifter up until 6000rpm, but by that stage, the computer had already decided it was going to shift itself into 2nd, so once it hit 7200rpm (my rev limit), the power cut happened, then it shifted itself into 2nd, and then it registered that I had upshifted as well so it almost immediately shifted me into 3rd, at about 5500rpm, so I lost almost 2000rpm of 2nd gear because of that as well as the power cut in 1st!

That's still a dam decent time Rome. With some fine tuning and more practice, I reckon low 12's are in order.
Cheers
