Controls for non controller steering wheel

Postby Joshy » Wed Dec 12, 2012 7:44 pm

Hey all,

I would like to put Audio controls, and possibly Cruise controls on my 06 Liberty.

The steering wheel has no controls, however can I purchase the parts from subaru and put them on, is the required cabling already there, or would I need to get a harness, etc for it all?

Cheers

Have a look on LegacyGT.com man. I have read a few in depth threads about the steering controls on there.

Are you sure you don't already have cruise control?

I've got the cruise mate, I was wondering if it was possible to move it to the front of the steering wheel (on the silver bit) rather then its own side control bit.

Sounds crazy! Isn't that where it is on PostFL? I guess it'd be possible if you looked into it!

I'd just do it to be like the legacygt link you posted (how pre-face controls came out of the factory).. Screwing around with the cruise control etc just seems soo pointless! My 2c anyway man.

Cruise control is on the steering wheel, on the bottom right hand side, as seen in the pic he posted

Thats right, its a selector lever thing on the right side of the steering column,

I would love audio controls on the wheel, and if possible put the cruise controls on there if its a simple job, if not then audio controls on their own are fine too ! :D

Controls for non controller steering wheel

I think you will need to buy a postface steering wheel that has the swc already on it or at least one with the c/control and then buy the swc/c/c satilite switch from the USA (then come joined together ) and install them onto the wheel as far as wiring goes because the preface did not offer swc the wiring might not be there and the radio might not be able to be controlled by the swc . But hay that's IMO
Good luck anyway
As I said before I did it but in a postface
Happy to help if I can
