Postby Rome_BRZ » Mon Dec 10, 2012 8:28 am

So it's almost been a month since my E85 tune and thought I'd give a little update! Basically when I got the tune I still had a quarter of a tank of P98 in it so it wasn't a full E85 tune, but the car still drove like a beast! On the day of the tune, I noticed my temp needle rising pretty high, almost to the red, but then came back down. I didn't really think anything of this at the time as it had been on the dyno all day. Then it happened a week or two later so decided something was up and got my radiator pressure tested at Garage 88. Found out that there was a loose clamp at the back of my turbo coolant reservoir. Once this was all tightened up and coolant topped up I was good to go and no more issues!

In the meantime I had a BITCH of a time trying to get my Innovate Wideband O2 sensor hooked up. Had it installed at Garage 88 but didn't have a serial to USB adapter to connect it to my laptop. Spent about a week trying to get it to log directly to my Tactrix cable through an SD card (which means no laptop is needed while actually logging), but failed! Eventually just got the serial to USB adapter and was finally able to log some AFRs for Matt to check my tune now that I was running a full tank of E85.

Loaded my first revision on Sunday morning before our tune (sorry guys for making you all wait for me!) and the car seemed to run noticeably better straight away! Came on boost faster and the power delivery was just amazing! My lucky gf held onto the laptop while we logged it for around half an hour to check everything was OK then it was time to put it away and enjoy the rest of the cruise ;)

Unfortunately, on the way back from Berry I noticed some more overheating issues. It was fine when driving but once we were in traffic the needle would start to creep up again! At the end of our national park run we pulled over into the park area and I was able to look under the hood and with the help of Mick (dr20t) try to see what was wrong. It seems that the radiator cap was leaking, so I think that it maybe can't take the pressure, but there might be a blockage somewhere. My plan is to take it to Garage 88 on Wednesday before the drags to see if they can diagnose an issue!

So after topping up the coolant levels with water (provided by 09libs, thanks Ricco!) I was good to go home haha. Did a few 0-100 pulls on the way home as I hadn't really had a chance to since the revision and it felt pretty fucking unbelievable. I can't wait to see what this will run at the drags now!

Oh and one more thing, I averaged just under 13 l/100kms for the whole of Sunday (filled up before we left) so after all that driving almost made 400kms before the petrol light came on...pretty good for E-flex!!

Wow thanks for the kind words Daniel :D To be honest I actually want my car sitting one step lower front and back but my centre pipe will scrape on any bump at all if I did that :( Not to mention the front lip *shudder*

245 will be the next step! I bought these wheels off Tony (senator) and he was going to try 245s next, him and Michael (Garage 88) were going to see if it could be done with guard rolling. This will be a little way off for me as I have other priorities but it will eventually happen!

Yeh well I was kidding lol. The overheating issue was because of the leak which is most likely because of the radiator cap as that is where it was all sprouting out from and dirtying my engine bay!

And yes have logged and done learning views and no issues there :)
