Removing door trim on MY00 3GEN.. HELP D:

Postby brickie94 » Fri Nov 23, 2012 12:51 pm

Hey all, I just installed a new headunit the other day, so now I am looking to install some door speakers. However, I'm having some trouble getting the door trim off to take out the stock speakers. Its ONE harness/loom that is impossible to take apart.

So basically, I pop out the power window controls

Then, I pull out the first loom which is piss easy to remove

ITS THIS BASTARD that I can't pull out. Here are some pictures of its 'release' mechanism.

Any ideas on releasing this harness? I can get the door trim off, its just this one last plug that is getting me. I took apart the whole dash trim and it was easier than this! Haha

Thanks in advance guys.

It's just a pain to pull off. There is a little push tab that holds it together. Good luck mate.

Is the tab I need to pull in the third picture (that little brown one) or is the tab the white parts in the second picture? Or both?

The brown tab.
Jamb a small flat head screw driver in and pull the harness.

Haha this clip is my mortal enemy. Every time I have had to undo this clip it has taken me 10 minutes. It's an absolute BITCH to get loose! Good luck and don't get into a rage fit like me

I got the plug and managed to cut my finger on some sharp metal thing but the whole door trim has been removed. Naturally, I have another problem though. How do I install a new speaker with the OEM port? Pictures:

This is the OEM port:

This is the aftermarket speaker:

easy just buy some speaker wire and crimp some female terminals on one end to connect to the speaker and some male terminals on the other end to connect to the plug
