Factory AUX Q

Hey, apologies if this is already posted and I've missed it...

The factory AUX setup on the 14 speaker mcintosh in my MY07 - does the system automatically switch to aux mode when it detects music via the 3.5 jack in the console box?

I'm guessing not?

No idea, sounds like you're trying to implement a hands-free system into the stock unit?

Yeah, possibly on a slightly grander scale. Essentially I'd like standard radio/cd output unless another audio signal is detected. Then switch back to radio/cd once signal is lost.

I'm guessing a bit like a parrot mobile kit.

I've paired my navman to my Parrot. It keeps the "channel" open so its basically static until the navman provides instruction.
Found that when I used navigation on my phone (paired to my parrot) the parrot cut in too slow, so I missed half the voice guidance instructions.

We could have a winner! It describes the functionality I want but in a backward way, or I read backwards...

I want constant radio/CD music, then cut to an Aux source for a small moment as Aux outputs something, say Nav directions, then cut straight back over to radio/CD once the Aux output becomes silent.

Hmmm, so you have nothing - no music, just static, until Navman says something as the Parrot kit isn't fast enough to switch between alternate sources?

The Parrot automatically "interupts" the radio when the phone rings, or you're in a call etc. With a phone (that probably uses a better bluetooth stack) the parrot would interupt and then hangup cleanly. Meaning I only lost the radio whenever my phone needed to.

When I paired my navman to my parrot (which I don't think the Navman properly supports, the parrot continually interupted. I only got the radio back when I unpaired the two devices.

The parrot switching isnt instant, so I found when I was using it for navigation on my phone I'd get half the voice instruction. This is a common issue and discussed on the Parrot forums. It's not a fault so I wouldn't expect it to be fixed.


Edit: streaming navigation commands from my Nexus4 to the parrot works really well.
