Upgrading Car Audio, Suggestions?

Hey guys. I'm just about to buy myself a Gen4 My04 Liberty. I've always been an audio man, and I've always run Alpine gear. I've heard a few people tell me that Alpine can be a little over priced, so I'm looking for some opinions from people about what I should look in to.

This is the set up I was thinking:

Headunit: Pioneer AVH-P8450BT

Front: Alpine Type R 6.5" Components

Rear: Alpine Type R 6"

Subwoofer: Alpine Type X 12"

Amps: Alpine PDX M-12 and Alpine PDX F-6

Wiring: Stinger 0 Gauge kit and Stinger 4 Gauge kit

Capacitor: Stinger SPC505

Battery: Optima Red Top

Thinking about getting some dynamat as well, just depends on funds. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Welcome and I'm sure you will enjoy the lib. But this forum will be the death of your wallet

Deadening on the doors is a must, IMHO. Very obvious even to stock.

What's your budget? Will you do the install yourself etc?

Also a lot of it is personal preference. Personally I prefer Focals as I like the warm sounds they bring bland crisp but not harsh. Costly. So I buy second hand

But it looks like you have a good idea to what you want to do.

Assuming you're pre facelift you shouldn't have any issues with the fascia for the HU, I think.

Ditch the rear speakers. Absolute waste of money. Spend the extra cash on better front speakers. Yes Alpine Type R's are good, but there are better speakers out there.

Also, the PDX-F6 is overkill for the Type R's. Not a bad thing, but as I said, spend more on better front speakers and ditch the rears.

I'd also ditch the capacitor for now. You shouldn't need a capacitor if everything is installed correctly. End of the day a capacitor is generally a band aid solution to a poorly installed system.

Other than that, all seems good. I personally havn't played with the Pioneer headunit, but I've heard it to be quite good.

Is there a reason behind the Red Top as opposed to a Yellow/Blue top?

I've got a pretty good budget at the moment, saved up some good dosh. I know everyone says ditch the rears but I also want my passengers to enjoy the sound as well if I have any. What other brands and models should I look into for front splits?

As for the battery, I only brushed over the articles on them, and the red top seemed very nice and not to expensive. Should I look into a yellow top instead?

I feel the same way. The stock speakers in the rear sound terrible, at least in a wagon anyway.
Didn't seem fair I was listening to good sound while my passengers enjoyed the sounds of something similar to dropping ass

Just been looking around on Newcastle Pro Sound's website and I found some nice priced Hertz speakers. Anyone heard or used these before? I've heard some good stuff about them, might have to go check them out.

If you are talking about the Hertz HSK-165's then that is what I'm running and find them great!
