Who knows, we all assumed it would but that intercooler and turbo combo apparently just wont happen. I'll give you all one guess who is doing (should I say not doing) the work on it...

Yep sure is. I said for them to just put it all back together and leave it as it was, I called up again to ask if it would work with the stock cooler and they said it was a lost cause and to bin the turbo. And that it wouldnt be ready until tomorrow cos they still had to tune it! I nearly flipped! I asked them not to do ANYTHING except put it back the way it was! They wanted to charge me $1100 to put it back together and tune it and I said no so they assumed they were doing it anyway? What is with that?

On top of that, I said dont bother with putting on the 3 port solenoid obviously, he said he had already done it so i said to put the stock one back on or I cant drive the car. Then he tells me in the next call that he has to tune it cos of the solenoid! :angry2:

Bunch of dildos mate. Got a few unhappy customers from them now just from club lib alone. Do yourself a favor and go see MMS or EvoR or even go to Stechnic and then get the car towed to somewhere else for a tune. Do let us know how you go! Feeling very sorry for you since this should have been a weekend of spirited driving :(

OK so after I picked the car up they said that nothing was ever going to line up, both the intake and the dump were miles off and it was fouling on the gearbox. They put the spacer plate on and it apparently still wasnt any good and the cooler wasnt fitting. It just annoys me cos they couldnt actually explain it properly as in what parts were fouling where and if it was a case of the turbo was sitting too low on the up pipe hence the crappy alignment, or if it was too far left or right or basically anything I could do to solve the problem.

They were very quick to just say its a lost cause and it wasnt worth doing and it was never going to fit even when I'm standing there saying it's just come off an identical car and fitted up and ran fine!!

I'm really keen to spend a weekend and try to test fit it myself just so I can see with my own eyes what the problem seems to be.

And as a final blow, I found the car sluggish and strange after picking it up. I popped the bonnet saturday morning just to take a look and found the ring clamp on the throttle body side of the intercooler freely hanging there! Like they didnt even try to tighten it up! No wonder it was leaking boost and driving like a bitch, I shouldnt be fixing a performance garage's mistakes! :angry2:

That's pretty shitty, I would expect more from a "performance workshop".

It seems no one wants to fabricate these days? If they can't get it to bolt on they just take the easy way out!

More and more of that it seems. There do seem to be a lot of shops that are just cashing in. Basically fitting ebay bolt on parts and doing dubious tuning. I find in South East QLD we a blessed with lots of decent Subaru shops, both for modifying and servicing. Kenny, the thing is, if you go back there and point out their mistakes they will shit can you, if you post on the internet that they farked it up, they can legally shitcan you. As a consumer you are just screwed, which really sucks.
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.

No kidding hey, it's just a rubbish situation to be honest. The worst thing is that they do a great tune and I had been very happy with that aspect of the work they do, and with limited tuners here in the west you almost have to suck it up and just go there to get what you need. I am considering getting somewhere else to do the work and just having it towed there to tune but i'm quite nervous now about taking it somewhere for them to say the same thing and still charge me for labour.

Sorry to hear that Jacob that really sucks :( Try Mao?

I've been hearing more and more about him around the place.

Personally I got STech to do most of the install work and for some smaller bits I went to Mettams in Morley (as it was hard to get a ride to Maddington from work). Tuned with Matt (KiDo) when he was here last weekend.

Hope all this crap gets fixed up for you soon :(

Try Evolution R Or Stechnic, both workshops would be should be able to tell you if you gear is going to fit prior to you forking out money for installation.

Mao at Evolution R does verso tuning as well (assuming that's what you would have got at ASG) if you want to do the 1 stop shop approach (have used him many times without incident) give him a jingle or just drop by and visit him. Unlike most workshops he will actually stay well into the night to finish a job he started if anything goes wrong :)

Good luck mate and keep us updated on how you go!

You better have it sorted pre cruise in November haha

Lovely little update from my weekend of being under the bonnet.

No success with the test fit as there was no way we could manage to get the final bolt off the dump so in the end after a days work the stock turbo stays where it is and still no idea on fitment of the new one. :?
After inspecting the new one I now notice another little gift left for me thanks to the fellows who worked ever so hard on installing it for me. Both holes on the compressor housing flange are stripped out... Thanks lads I now have a turbo that "doesnt fit" and I also cant sell now that it's damaged.

Don't worry too much, the bolt holes can be easily re-threadded.
