Headers/High flow cat recommendations?

Postby gloryboy » Thu Oct 18, 2012 8:41 pm

Hey all,

So I think I'm going to invest in the stainless steel X-force exhaust system for my 2.5i NA lib wagon. However, I'm hoping for a bit of advice on where to go to have custom headers made, and/or which high flow cat would be suitable? I'm really hoping for some ideas as I'm getting stuck, and being pretty new to this, don't want to rush in and make mistakes.

Thank you in advance :)

Well AFAIK headers and a high flow cat on a NA engine provide very minor power gains and would only really be for bragging rights or to change the sound a bit. A decent catback exhaust would provide you with a better sound, allow the engine to breathe a little better and would be much much cheaper.

Sweet as. I only asked this because I had two different exhaust places say I need them... However I'm planning on getting a vipec 'piggyback' ecu so my hitachi ecu can be tuned. In this case would getting headers/high flow cat be beneficial?

For Sale if interested. Will fit NA 2.0R and 2.5i, as you have the 2.5i you will need to transplant your o2 sensors to prevent o2 sensor fault codes coming up as they are different between 2.0 and 2.5.

PM if interested.

Regards,
Mick

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I'm curious as to where you found out about the vipec piggyback unit, and super curious as to whether/how it works with the hitachi ecu?

I've had the bad news from Matt (kido tuning) regarding the usefulness - lack of - of the hitachi unit, but i wasn't aware there were other options.

Sharings caring?

Edit - Did a search, the only result relative to vipec was the monster bi-turbo v12 lib being built...I wish it was relative, but its not
