Disposing of used tyres

Postby Rome_BRZ » Wed Oct 24, 2012 12:02 pm

Are there certain regulations in NSW regarding diposing of old tyres? I was told by my folks that I couldn't add them to the annual clean up because they wouldn't get picked up...I wouldn't usually have to worry about it because the tyre place would dispose of the old ones when I changed tyres in the past.

Any ideas?

Dump them in the forrest. $20 a tyre at the tip and you're folks are right, they'll be left behind after hard rubbish collection.

won't tyre places take them, or is that only if you're buying new ones from them..?

They will take them, but it will probably cost you money. just go there after hours and add the tyres to their already large collection 8)

In SA we have bottle recycling depots, I know some of them take tyres.

I've taken a couple of sets of tyres to tyre places before. Once they charged me 2 or 3 dollars a tyre and the other time it was 5 dollars a tyre.

I also know of someone who paid $10 a tyre.
So it depends who serves you and how they feel at the time I guess.

What if you were to take an angle grinder to them, cut them up and include the bits in your normal rubbish over a few weeks?

cheers,

The swans take my vote - but paint them psychadelic colours and paint crazy teeth on them so they resemble something from a bad trip, then leave them in the front yards of random houses.
