Front speakers on 01 Liberty?

Postby QLiiMaX » Tue Oct 23, 2012 9:44 pm

Hey guys.

I'm just wondering what the specs are on the stock front speakers on a 2001 RX Liberty? Mine are blown as and I want to upgrade them. I've got 6x9's in the back of my car which are awesome and most of my sound comes out of them, but I want some good sound to come out of the front ones as well.

If someone knew the size that would fit in the front door (without having to do any major modifications) or someone that has upgraded theirs, that would be really helpful!

Thanks!

I've just upgraded to some Clarion 350W. they are 6x6, brilliant speakers. autobahn have them for $150. the stock speakers have this stupid plastic mount/surround thing... trash it and cut out some mdf spacers... PS use the old surrounds to get the right shape to trace onto the MDF. the pre cut ones you buy from autobahn don't fit.

There is a template for spacers in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=16916

I don't think Subaru changed it between Gen3 and Gen4 so yeah.

Hey Jack, are your fronts amplified or just running off the HU?

I'd assume so. If your speakers are rated at 350W the HU (assuming it's aftermarket) only puts out 50W per channel. Someone feel free to correct me, I am in no way a professional lol

They are rated at max 350W. Going by Clarions website, they are rated at 55W RMS.

Most headunits output 4x50W max. And IIRC they are about 4x15W RMS.

So yes, amping your speakers would be better.

Awesome, thanks for the help Jack! Will look into those speakers.

Can you just unplug the old speaker wire and plug it straight into the new speakers?

So we've got 6x6's in the front back? I think I'll go with Kicker again. Is the door trim that hard to get off? i havnt given it a go yet.

easy. just undo the screws (one in the arm rest, one in the handle) then pop off the tweeter cover. door trim will then just unclip all the way around. then lift upwards. thats it
