Tail light tint. A few guys on here have done it. Definitely avoid using any form of tint spray like nightshade.

Tint is good because you can cut it exactly right, easily removed, and available in different shades.

Spray, is not.

I think you can buy a pre-cut film somewhere online. Not sure where sorry.

Some useful links-

Keep in mind - Tinting your tail lights is illegal. I suppose if it's very neatly done and only a very light shade you may get away with it.

sprayings just fine if you do it right, if youve got a spray painter mate they can do it no probs and with quality products, bit of black paint mixed in with clear coat, scuff the lights up, mask em up or remove em from the car, and away you go.

the whole tinted tail lights thing is abit silly to me and as said its illegal and too many people do it wrong thinking it looks awesome.

If you are unsure about tinting, use film rather than spray as you can remove it.

Personally, I like tail light tints and haven't thus far <knock-on-wood> had any problems. If you are near police and feel nervous about it, just flick the switch on the steering column. Problem solved.
I got this plan. It's called 'Save Ass'. And the way it works is this - I slip outta one of these windows and I run like a bastard!

Here's my baby with Dark Smoke tint from MetroRestyling (check them out on eBay or metrorestyling.com ) plus chrome blacked out 8)

Compared to the usual "before" tint look:

I paid professional window tinters to do them but they gave up, so I had several tries on each with a heatgun, spray soap and custom squeegy. Pretty happy with it, but would probably buy new tail light if I got busted than try and re-tint them

Looks great Stu. Out of curiosity, how'd you black the chrome? Did you just tint over it or colour it another way?

Chrome was blasted off using some kind of oxide (I think) by a local sand blaster - needs to be gentle to not destroy the plastic underneath. Then it was just professionally painted in a color matching the car with clear coat.

You'll get busted for lack of chrome strip before darken tail lights. Too avoid issues with darkened tail lights - use LED globes as they're much brighter.

Busted for lack of chrome strip really? from the style police??

Tried 7.5W cree LED brake lights but they seemed dimmer and the LED color made the lights look almost yellow :?
7W cree LED reverse lights are awesome and I'd definitely fit them again.
LED indicators in the rear tails weren't too good either - front are a must though.

I used nightshades on mine.

Doesn't give that browning color over your indicator like tinting does

Ever wondered why theres no aftermarket options for sedan taillights and there's plenty for wagons?

Simply because sedans are GAY.
