So the ECU Datascan website is STILL hacked! (bloody "Saudi Arabia HaCkeR")

A few weeks ago, mine shut down from corrupt errors and after that I had no access to things on the SD card i.e. GPS software, wallpapers, logging etc. I didn't bother fixing it because it was still doing it's main function of ECU parameter readouts.
Then today I was using it, and it shut down. And again. And again. And again. Whenever I switched it on, then it attempted to load the saved dashboard, parameters etc it would just crash.
I put the SD card into the computer to see what's going on and there is just one folder called "errors". Nothing else.
I screen shot the contents in that folder so you guys can see what's in there.

I think the fix will just be the same as what Zach and Ben were doing but I don't have a backup of the original SD card contents :( could anyone please send me the original files?

Yeah I still have the backup.

Mine still crashes like its going out of fashion (clears the sd card) so I've just given up.

I still use it for the dashboard readouts, but otherwise it's as good as a paperweight.

Have sent Daren multiple emails and he never replies.

Mine wasn't that bad until this happened. I wonder if mine will be different to yours. As long as the dashboard works, that's better than nothing.
I've noticed the ECUDatascan forum is pretty dead these days...
Could you please send me the backup, Zach? What's the easiest method to send it?

I'm not glad there's more members with problems but I'm happy to help out.
Please get a second 2GB SD card so you can keep a 2nd backup in the car...

The best way to get going again is to erase and reformat the SD card and copy back the original backup.

Can anyone suggest a more permanent spot in the cloud to put the backup files? It's about 500Mb worth.
I've been using WeTransfer but kinda tedious after 3+ goes.

Mine is running fine apart from crashing when boost maxes out.
The issue is repeatable.
Due to the tune I only max out boost in S# so it's not the end of the world.
Intriguingly it will crash even if boost is not being displayed on the loaded dashboard.
Fixing that and getting a better mounting spot would be great!

I considered selling but due to that issue I think it would be someone's bargain, plus it's so damn useful I'd immediately regret selling it!

I have a few spare SD cards lying around so that's not a problem for me :)

Just curious, you have a tune from Matt right? What boost does is crash on when in S#?
My max boost was max at 18.4psi according to the dashboard, and the datascan had no issues reading it. I wish I had kept a backup now :(

The same I think but I'll be able to check later today

It crashed under those circumstances out of the box.
Due to attempts at restoring/updating the software I noticed the link between that and losing the iGo functionality.
It's something to do with a licence/ownership/preference file.

Anyone else have this crashing on max boost issue ?

Cloud Storage options on zdnet.

Take a peek, I'd go for Google Docs then Amazon.

Hi guys,

This is my first post on this forum. I have an ecudatascan and Im having similar problems to those listed here. Mine keeps freezing, crashing or just plain not working. Ive attempted to contact Daren but Im not getting any replies. The unit is still under warranty as its under a year old so Im reasonably peeved.

Im keen to try the fix recommended here but I never made a back up. DOes anyone have a link to this or one I could use?

Thanks

As mentioned to bBb, my unit crashes on bootup only while I'm connected to the Liberty via the Subaru communications protocol.

I've been using mum's Corolla (they're away atm) for the last few weeks and no crashes whatsoever using the Toyota communications protocol.... all without any SD card.

Don't really have any other vehicles to test other comms protocol - and can't get in touch with Daren from ECUds to let him know what I've found out. :? Still waiting for Daren to send me the SD card what was supposed to come with my unit.

What we were supposed to get an sd card, I dont think I got one of those.

Hmmm, Im having no luck with Daren and my holder carked it ages ago. I was taking the unit out of the holder and the whole holder cracked in half. Told Daren about it but got no love. Sad :(
