Other than this small issue getting sorted, I'd love to get some extra ponies out of the stock system, and possibly iron out the gearbox shifts more smoothly. With the SI drive Matt, do you just do 1 tune for all positions of the SI drive or will there be a new tune for each position of the SI Drive?

SI Drive becomes a boost controller, few members can vouch for it ;) Wastegate boost pressure in Intelligent mode, 12psi in Sport mode and a 16psi peak bleeding back to 13psi at peak power in Sport#
Gearshifts become silky smooth, firm, precise and predictable kick backs :)

Few videos in here, Sheik Jabooti can confirm how good they now can be :)

Hi Matt,

In regards to "bricking" ECU's when flashing.

Can you advise what one can to do to help avoid "bricking" the ECU when flashing ?

oh i spoke to him about this on my last tune

main point is both the car and laptop have power and no interruption during flashing eg. unplug the cable or anti virus/firewall kick in and stop the connection

I would say Taylor's brick is an exception to the rule, he's had a lot of tunes done, so...

Also, apparently it's quite fixable, should be back in the car this morning I believe.

A small summary of what I have noticed since the tune. Please bear in mind, my car is bog stock right down to the filters and auto. So I will be comparing it from stock till now.

One thing I have noticed after the tune is that Im using Intelligent mode more often now rather than not at all. I find I mode feels like S did prior to the tune. It also keeps the economy down to a respectable level around town too.

S mode you can feel the torque and power come on earlier and its far more eager to want you to put the foot down now. Gear shifts in this mode are smooth, and unless you are watching the tacho you wouldnt notice the shifts happening. With very light throttle I am noticing the car is moving effortlessly thru traffic. Very predictable acceleration and still maintaining its manners.

S# mode is a different kettle of fish. It feels a bit violent with about 50% throttle. I really need to relearn the way I drive now with this mode as it gets to the speed limit much faster. Power is smooth all the way to redline, and torque delivery is instant. At the same time, it's quite deceiving, you think your not going that fast until you look at the speedo. It certainly a drivers license burner if your not careful.

A bit more on the gear shift program, prior to getting Matt to tune the car, my gears shifts were ok while put putting around town, but were quite jerky in S# under hard load. In S mode the gear shifts would hold longer than I'd like and it would rev its nut off. The new shifting program is quite different. It's far more predictable. Kick downs are instant which is great in S & S# when you want to get going in a hurry. Even in I mode its improved. But I dont expect to use 'I' mode for anything but peak hour and laid back cruising. S mode shifting combined with the tune just seems to be able to get a good balance of perky yet sedate all rolled into one. S# seems to be for traffic light duels and hills driving. It's just set up for pure grunt and fun!

Economy wise, I filled up after the tune, and found my DTE added an extra 70km to what was my normal total. I was very surprised to say the least, but at the same time, impressed. Can only imagine what it would be like on the open highway. Just be aware, the additional mileage may not equate the same in city stop/start traffic.

Just to let you know, Matt's tune for this car will allow for a bigger intercooler, dump pipe and cat back without a retune and its still remains safe. Further tweaking of the tune can still be done if need be later on.

Overall, Im very impressed with the tune and Matt's abilities to know what these cars need. TOTALLY recommend KiDo tunes!!!

^^ This... so much this. I scared myself a few times on the cruise yesterday it was so violent when I put my foot down! :D

Anyway, my car currently has TMIC, Dump and TCP Quads. The mods (mainly dump pipe) had made a definite change in performance, but had also emphasised some of the issues with the stock tune, of flat spots and hesitation in 2nd and 3rd gears.

I mode is actually now useful, as Shav said I can actually envisage myself using it on the odd occasion now.

S mode is incredible. Shifts are so smooth, and unless you're giving it a bit of boot, it hangs on to gears a lot less than the factory tune did, meaning that it isn't spending all of it's time revving it's guts out, but will still run through the revs when you put your foot down and ask it to.

S# is unbelievable. Even in full auto mode, the downshifts are much more predictable, it's not the usual case of putting your foot down until it throws you all the way back to 1st to get a response out of it. It pulls hard in ALL gears (there's even pull in 5th). I haven't done a proper take off at the lights yet (mainly because I'm scared of stalling it up, I don't want to blow my gearbox up!) but even from a dead stop it takes off nice.
In sports/flappy paddle mode, it's a lot more responsive. I can actually shift from 1st to 2nd now when taking off hard - I used to always miss it because of the lag and it'd hit the limiter and shift itself before actually processing my shift. Downshifts are awesome, you get the expected engine braking, but no jolts as it's dropping back a gear.

On top of all that - all those people with autos who complain about drone from their quads... apparently it's just like playing the trombone and is a simple tuning adjustment. My drone at 90 - 100 is pretty much gone. I'm now seriously pondering doing mid-section because the drone shouldn't be an issue (probably just prior to Matt's next visit so he can fix it again! :D)

Edit: Oh, and I saw Matt make a claim somewhere that his idle never varies - even with the aircon on. Confirmed! I just sat in roadwork for 10 minutes, so got to test it! :(

Leaving it in Drive, vs. using the Paddle Shift or stick to change gears

+1. Had the a/c on yesterday, and the engine idle did not move. Love it.

Another aspect of the tune is the smoother idle I have noticed. It is definitely a lot more smoother when idling. Hard to explain but it seems to be a bit quieter. I like that!

Bricking an ecu is not hard to do if you do not follow the correct order precisely - thus very important everything is up to scratch

I wasn't aware of taylor's ecu being bricked - I know he had ecutek at one stage so just saying....

I do both, leave it in Drive plus use the paddle shift, fun and lazy at the same time

Yeah it randomly bricked while they had it on the dyno and Matt was tuning. Had to be pushed manually off the dyno from what I heard (I got there after they had it off)
