anyone else using the Anycar Link AL-1080A notice a pretty long delay when skipping past certain tracks on usb?

normally skipping through songs is fairly quick, but with the odd file it seems to take around 10-15 seconds to load up...large file size maybe!? :o

...looked into it a bit and it appears to be the larger the file size, the longer the wait. most mp3's i play are anywhere from 4-8mb which load up in good timing, the ones causing the delay were 14mb+.

fast forwarding is a little annoying (seems to only skip in 10 second blocks, one click of the FF wheel = one 10 second block). other than that, money very well spent!!!

The Anylink is installed and it works great (thanks About Sound). I have is installed in the cubby where it fits neatly with no drilling. Bluetooth seems to work well. Steering wheel controls work well on Android but less well on Blackberry which seems to keep asking permission to change tracks and then stops playing after it changes which kind of defeats the purpose!

So now just have to decide whether I really want to get a new tablet to go in the car or if the phone is enough...Any reason other than size to get a tablet?

Edit updated: decided I needed to get a tablet ...not sure why :D

My only concern is the heat in the cubby, wasn't that hot today mid-high 20's and car was left in the sun the heat in there was huge. The glovebox didn't seem much better which would appear the other obvious location to put it. Where has everyone else installed theirs and has anyone had heat related issues?

For that very reason, when I installed my parrot system I ran the cables for the music (an iPod, USB, aux multi-cable) down and back into the centre bin between the front seats. My iPod touch lives in there now, I only ever take it out to bring inside and put more music/podcasts on it. It's the coolest place in the car in terms of cubby holes, I think, plus in my model there's a small AC vent into the centre bin that comes off the rear passenger AC vents so it keeps the iPod and my phone themselves from getting warm when it's both streaming Bluetooth music and in there charging (the handy acc power socket is an extra bonus).

Those buttons are ment to switch between iPod and aux/mic. Read the manual. Not much help.. Only thing possibly saying black ground wire on the 'harness' to attach to stereo. .. Surly shouldn't have to pull out the black wire from the device plug ???

As per my email- The unit does not operate from the Aux button. You need to press the CD button a second time to activate the Anycar and the display will show CDC. The aux on the Anycar is activated by pressing the AS/RPT button and the AnyCar blue light will not come on until the unit has been activated. You don't need to change the dipswitches or press the reset button

Can you advise what model year your car is?

My experience is not good, the HU controls do not work, no track text, only volume works and you have to change/select/skip from the ipod.
Note to others about what in my opinion is a _not-so-obvious_ warning about these issues on the advancedice website, you need to check the vehicle compatibility tab where (after getting excited by the features summary) you get told that it might not work as advertised on your Subaru and you may not return it for that reason.

Can you confirm what model year your car is? You mentioned MY07 in your posts but your profile says MY08.

The steering wheel controls are already known not to work on MY08 as noted in the first post of this thread.
