On the boot of sedans you can see the plate mounts about 10mm above the top edge of the plate. Ive also made ones to lift the rear 10mm before to cover.

NSW slim plates are a smaller profile than Vic ones and require less lift which is why you can get away with just spinning the speed nut around.

I got around the plate mount visibility by adding a frame around the plate. Looks much better.
