Only reason you need to do it for an extended period of time is to drain the capacitors in the electrical system that keep RAM memory alive. Putting your foot on the brake is a powered circuit that does not need the ignition key on, so it uses all of the cars available electrical energy to try and light up the brake lights and thus drains the capacitors.

5 minutes max to do a reset, no leaving it overnight

I have had my liberty 1 week today ( finally passed 1 week unlike the previous liberty that was written off) my fuel consumption is 9.8l/100 and just passing 500kms. Lovely car to drive and plenty of go when needed.

The reason you don't see consumption under 14 is because your listening to your new mufflers still. Need to rev lower haha

Well after a week of suburban driving with a proper ECU reset (battery disconnected + brake pedal pressed), I've been averaging 12.4.

Not great but better than the 15.4+ I was consistently getting before.

Once I go on a longer run again it will be interesting to see how what I get.

Completely standard I was averaging 12L/100 km - this is combined driving of around 70% city and 30% highway/ off-peak.

After sticking on Raptor headers, high-flow cats, and exhaust - I'm now averaging around 10.6 L/100 km.

This could be because I'm more touchy with the throttle (the exhaust is obviously a lot louder). But I don't think so, I genuinely think its because there is more low-down torque. Previously to maintain a cruising speed of 60km/h, I was using between 8-10 L/100 km; now, I am using between 6-8 L/100 km.

Seems to be a vindication of the statement that retuning does improve economy. That said, I have noticed that when I give it the beans, the fuel use climbs quicker than it used to.

Yes. My understanding is a majority of the gains come from dyno tuning.

I think it's a combination of the new piping plus the tuning to suit

New record 8.2 L/100k, 585km till the fuel light, with probably another 100km in her, poor car never saw 4000rpm for the whole tank of fuel. Probably 80% of k's highway/rural. Back to 'normal' driving now, that was too painful.
