Justin you’re going to hate me for saying this, but if they originally machined your block to fit the new pistons, you might need a new short block or you can take advantage of this and fit some sleeves pending on how much material is left.

Did you suffer from much piston slapping during cold starts???....... looks like the lose piston clips might have been the result of that.

Yes...It sounded like a diesel on cold starts.....It sounded better as the engine warmed up but it never sounded properly if you ask me personally...

HPF told me that my cold starts would have piston slap as no maching was done to fit the forged mahles in the std bore....my engine had only 37k? at the time and they didnt see a need for it to be done? so you could say by them doing a wrong thing? if thats what they did....is a blessing in disguise to give me room now for machining...

I'm hoping to get a verdict sometime soon.....I think for now I'd rather get a short block then sleeve......but let's wait and see... :|

UPDATE:

Well? Nothing really at the moment...BUT

1/ bought a OEM full gasket and seal kit from EBAY USA via celtic motorsport usually around $500-$700 mark here in AUS...I got it here shipped for $285.00 :)
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/330619610504?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

2/ Ordered a new cam cover kit for $180.00 via makin and luby in preston.....its on back order from japan....
http://www.makinandluby.com.au/subaru-parts.htm

3/ Was tossing and turning on what to do with my new dump pipe and rear housing on my turbo? But I'm sticking to the plan and have finally engaged Scott to make me a custom stainless steel dump pipe with cat and flex joint using the existing ATP rear housing.

4/ I finally got some proper 1st hand info from ATP USA regarding my rear housing and details:
ATP GTX3071r
1/ A/R - T3 = 0.72 A/R equivalent
2/ Is it a ATP custom housing? - Yes.
3/ Whl Diam - 60mm
4/ Trim - 84 trim

Sensational!
Is the cam cover kit aka: a rocker cover and rocker cover bolt gasket kit?
Cos i needs one...
And the best price was local?

Also can you translate the turbo specs into n00b speak? :P

I was checking out the Evo TA cars at chasers today...
Sporting chasers custom manifolds with huge runners into a nice tight merge collector to smallish turbine/biggish compressor: sexxxy!!! And the rest!!! OMFG

No this is cam cover kit for the front of the engine? mostly the rear covers, seals, clips and bolts....where the timing belt, oil pump, water pump, pulleys and tensioner sit...

translate into noob terms? okay - in regards to powerband wise? my turbo is a mid range punch with mild top end....so chasing 300kw atw? will be pushing it...give or take...open to debate...but I should have good low down to go with it as well...in theory...bigger the A/R the increase in lag you receive but make up for it in top end power.....and then some!...so a A/R of 1.06 is pretty up there ....there's many ways you can look at this? ...

small turbine? big compressor? big turbine? small compressor? ...you get the drift....then you have to factor in wheel diam, type of wheel, ball bearing, journal? engine displacement, etc, etc...blah blah blah...

Ive always thought that i would go a gtx35r with a smaller rear housing (maybe around the 0.8) to get it to come on earlier but still have the size to punch up top and get my 300 kw ++ atw on pump fuel!!

So you are just going the other way. Smaller frame turbo with a bigger rear housing.!! Will be VERY keen to how this all performs when back together and on the boost!
