Annoying 05 Wagon Dash Rattle/squeak!

Hey everyone,

I've heard its a pretty common subi issue, but this rattle/squeak is getting ridiculously frustrating.
You can hear it 24/7, changing gears (even smoothly), hitting a tiny stone on the road, basically any time the car moves.

I'm pretty sure its coming from the dash area, and before i go pulling it apart, does anyone have any advice to what i can do about it? (other than turning the music up).
Is it a better idea to take it to a mechanic or subaru or will they just charge me thousands in labour with no results?

I am also interested to see what can be done about this. My car also has this annoying rattle sometimes. I find that if I put pressure just above that top pocket section, the rattle stops temporarily.

Does it come from the center cubby holder/vents? You can pop it out, spray some silicone and pop it back in. Or at first, just try and push it in so it is firmly seated.

For me it is coming from the cubby holder, I have made sure it is in firmly but I may have to take it out and do something like you have said mate.

Yeah I'll give that a go... It's really hard to pin point where its coming from, all i know is that its in front of me when driving!

A quick drive with it removed should let you know if you've found the right spot.

Got that centre dash speaker? The grille on mine make a little bit of noise every now and then...

Haha it seems like everyone has some kind of intermittent rattle. So frustrating!

Mine happens for two days of the week and then goes away

Mine comes from the drivers side a pillar where it meets the dash at the windscreen

Extremely annoying. I'm going to attempt to change it today seeing as it's a public holiday and all in nsw

I had this exact same noise from the same spot. I got a thin strip of black rubber and pushed it between where the dash meets the a pillar and it stopped. Cant see it either so it was a win win.

Just puncture and throw in a can of expanding foam and shut the doors.

I was hoping my squeak would go away after 12 months. guess what.

I know another 3rb owner her has a bad rattle from the bottom left of his dash cluster can stop it by holding your finger on it to check

Problem is that i can't locate the noise via listening to it-
its a tricky noise, it sounds like its coming from numerous places. i think its coming from the dash but people in the passenger seat think its right in front of them?
If it was constant, i might be able to locate it, but its only when i accelerate over rough roads.
