You can download the Android Google Play Store for free. The ODB-Bridge software is translation/modem software, and the Carscope software is the GUI for the vehicle metrics and realtime values.

I am aware you can buy other much cheaper Bluetooth dongles on e-Bay but from my experience these cheaper dongles do not support the Subaru SSM2 protocol which is needed to extract the realtime ECU values from the EJ20.

I suspect because the ODB-Bridge software is separate from the Carscope software you could probably download any other ODB2 Android software instead of the Carscope software....perhaps.

Played with one fitted to a FT86, interface is great pending the size of the screen you use. The interface is well configured and very easy to use and customise.

It connected really quickly and only required a few taps of the screen to re-connect.
