I always wondered if there would be issues with the standard sump at a race track, I was thinking possible oil gettingbup to the bores and getting smokey, I was thinking about upgrading my sump anyway

KillerB sump or Morosso is good for keeping oil where it is supposed to be!

Re spilt oil: Wow, I'll be upgrading the lines (and PCV's if possible) when my AOS goes in.
Apart from threatening your bearings and rings etc... I'm guessing an engine bay fire could have been an unwanted possibility?

Will do benny sorry

Gb yeah the standard sump is definitely not a safe option for tracking at any power level really. It's a risk.

Benny - the scary thing is such a scenario could have been disastrous as the oil pickup couldve been starved and thus bearings could've had it

And yeah engine bay fire was definitely a possibility

Im surprised they didnt put a bigger one on considering the guy took it to the track a couple of times..

It's not the size that matters, but more the shape ;)

So while I'm waiting for my build parts to arrive / be prepared, I've been inspired to finish my drag car once and for all. Went for a ride in a mate of a mate's sr20det powered Toyota celica and realized I need to complete my drag car immediately.

The lib will therefore take a backseat for the next few months until the gem is finished.

That way my drag car will hopefully be running 9s and heading towards the 8's while my lib is built for circuit racing and occasional drags with times that are truly respectable for a daily driven street car.

Things to finish for the drag car:
- rest of the 18 point roll cage (currently only a four point)
- finalise bodywork (new radiator support panel) and respray
- shorten and reshim the diff with new axles and set backlash, and balance new tailshaft
- retune for new turbo
- minor interior bits (aluminium door trims)
- arp L19 headstuds for the motor and new mls gasket to replace the shitty copper one

That is all

Mick

Body, engine and interior work - yes (except respray - mate will be doing that properly)

Roll cage, diff and retune - no - best to leave that to the pro's.

And Benny sorry I'll reply to your pm now been running around like a headless Chook
