Is MY07 GT Spec-B ride height same as Prem? & Wagon springs

Postby al_cam » Mon Sep 10, 2012 1:26 pm

Just checking, been hunting around and this is the case?

- I've got a MY07 GT Premium with 102,000km on it (couldn't wait any longer for the right used Spec-B). Front right OEM strut is leaking, I find the car pretty roly-poly & has a fair amount of under-steer. The Spec-B Strut sets from Wheelpower look pretty good value & keep it factory. Would do self install including bushes.

Not really interested in lowering so much as I was 18 many years ago & I don't want the wife throwing up in the passenger seat :bad: (she is unfortunately prone to doing that).

Was looking at buying this week, but !#&^%*# looks like Wheelpower sold their last full set of wagon spring & strut sets, now listing wagons are struts only :( Any one know a good place to get MY07 Wagon springs to match OEM Spec-B Bilstein struts? Maybe even a little bit firmer. Coil-overs would probably attract too much ire from the Missus - something to be avoided.

Run sedan setup with 6mm spacers to rear strut tops. (according to Crusin)

You can buy/have my black GT-B wagon bilstein springs... soonish! Or very soon

BigBad,

Mmm.

How old are these springs, Originals?

But then how much do springs age really, could I tell the difference? Have all the discontinuities congregated at the grain boundaries  ?

MY07 06 build :-)

They're fine, I have BC V1's or sedan STi pinks to put in... OR SELL

But yeah there should be heaps out there...

You could always cryo the entire car!

Bigbad, I thought you were going with BC BR coilovers. Are BC V1s springs for the same?

I'm not totally against lowering, after all Cruisin said this on a other thread:
BC BR coilovers ride a lot smoother than when I had S-Techs in my Billies....

But then then comfort is a very subjective thing.

My last car was lowered (too far) and although it was a much shorter wheel base I know the very few places where it scraped (like the 70mm drop onto my drive). I really should get out and start measuring the clearances on the lib to see what the excess height really is. Some days it really does feel likes it's rolling around like our N/A Forester.

Go on guys, talk me into BC BRs...

I think I'll run the BC V1 till I sort out custom valved billies...

Running coil overs, even if just for a while, is something I want to do, it's on my big list of "things to do".
I'm ticking off a lot of daydreams here. (thanks all!)

You shouldn't need to be convinced, the pro and cons are regularly discussed here. Just do it... or not :P
