Sound System Build

Postby klunkeh » Thu Sep 06, 2012 4:30 pm

Hey,

Just wanted to share what I have been working on over the past couple months. If you follow the link below you can see the amp rack and box my dad and I built.

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.162969250425787.36594.100001381390790&type=1&l=dc72e49f2a

As you can see the amp rack is on a hinge and swings down. It protects the amps nicely and although its not bolted down, it doesnt move at all, even with hard cornering.

Dropped my car off at FHRX today to get all the gear installed and tuned :-D its going to be a painful week!!

Here is a quick list of what is being installed etc.

Front: Boston Pro60se
Sub: Image Dynamics IDMAX 12 in a 1.5cuft/42L (after displacement) sealed/deadened enclosure
Processor: BitOne.1
Battery: Deka Intimidator
Amps: Arc Audio KS300.1 for the front stage and a KS1000.1 for the sub
I am having the front doors deadened and sealed and the boot deadened.
Wiring and tuning etc.

I'll post some pics of the install as Marty sends them to me. Once I get the CD off him I will post a link to them as well.

Awsome start!
Finally after many months it's almost there!!!
Long wait but well worth it.
A mate of mine has the same front stage & amp combo and this thing ROCKS!!! For the sub he went with the Morels Ultimo 12". Both are impressive, only differenc is the ID MAX goes a little louder.

Always a pleasure to see an install done by the book :) makes a galaxy of difference when u crank up the volume. Pure solid bass and clarity with distortion so low our ears cant pick it up.

Hmm, I'll have a look at the link tonight. You shouldn't need to log in to fb, maybe it expired.

I can't wait! I have high expectations for the result and your not helping lol. I'm confident it will easily surpass them though.

I need to get something to take advantage of the digital input of the BitTen.D now. I've been looking at a turtle beach USB to TOSLINK adaptor but I am not sure how portable and convenient a laptop is going to be....or legal!

Hahahah even once u take it home, you're going to wait after approx 100hrs of listening to break in the drivers then u can finally tune the system to your likes.

I connected a netbook but removed it because it didnt look OEM. Tried many methods but nothing looks oem enough.

Luckily my speakers are from my old setup and the IDMAX from Marty is used so I'll be good to go right out of the box! 8-)

Try this link. I uploaded them to drop box. (Now includes some pics from Marty)

Nice work mate, I know how painfull it is to try and get amps sitting nicely in the boot of these cars, I endedup replacing the corflute at the back with aluminium and bolting them in that way... can't wait to see the finished result, I myself need to get off my ass and finish my sub boxes... :-S

Thank you. It is nice when people appreciate the effort that goes in to projects like these. Unfortunately most people just say, "Oh, thats nice".

Do you have any pictures of your install?

I have merged all the photos from Marty into my dropbox. Here is the link again https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0ByWgkt44diKMVVBaZ2cxN3dicFE&usp=sharing.

When I first listened to it I wasn't sure I liked it or not. It sounded like nothing I had ever heard. After some quality time spent I just absolutely love the sound. It is quite surprising when I A/B the EQ on/off. A world of difference.

The only problem I have right now is that the Audison DRC doesnt comunicate with the Bit.TenD. Marty is getting me a Bit.One as a replacement for free :-D Once I get the DRC and Bit.One I will put some more pictures up. The DRC is going to sit in the cubby hole.
