Headlight problem!

just installed 5000K xenon, but i m having a bit of an issue. my previous globes had the same problem too, so i know its none of the globes fault. the left side appears to be more 'focused' in the middle of the beam, whereas the right side lights's appear to be 'spread out' a lot more. i ve just tried playing around with the adjustment screws (vertical & horizontal) but no luck! any ideas?

Are the bulbs sitting correctly in both headlights?

Unlikely.... but is the right headlight dirty/oxidised, well more than the left one?

yeah they are sitting correctly in the socket. i might start again, pull them apart and give them a quick clean. maybe just a bit dirty.

You are talking about the headlight here right? Don't try clean the bulbs

I was talking about the bulbs but by the sound of it i shouldn't have been haha.

Usually with HIDs they either work or don't work at all. If it's a power issue the ballasts wouldn't send enough power to the bulbs to ignite them in the first place.

It looks like the light is being focused differently which means either the bulb is sitting wrong or there's some sort of interference on the projector lens or headlight lens....

had a good look at the headlight and there's nothing there (dirty, etc) to obstruct.

surely being gently & a micro fiber cloth shouldn't do too much damage to the globe!?

Why do you need to clean the bulb? You already said above that there was the issue previously regardless of the bulb you were using..

Unless you're talking about the actual headlight housing?

Well yes and no...issue before wasn't with the power of the globes...the light looked a little spread out too far, but that was before I played around with the levels. Now it just looks like one is outputting more stronger light.

Well it's probably not advisable to clean the actual halogen, they're quite delicate

apart from dirt on the globes i really dont have any idea what could be causing this! ill give it a try!

Oh, these are just halogens? Make sure all the contacts are clean as if there's enough resistance you could get a power problem with them. Or even better, check voltage with a multimeter.

As soon as you said 'I'll pull them out and re do them' I was thinking in my head that there is a good chance that you will break your headlight(s).

They are not cheap, Subaru want a stupid amount which is not even worth mentioning, wrecker is your best option.
