Join the club, this is a very common issue with these cd players, your best option is to replace it with an aftermarket unit, thats what i ll be doing shortly, as soon as my replacement double din facia arrives 8) my mac has given me nothing but trouble, biggest POS!!!

it'll do it a lot less during warmer months, or if u keep ur car garaged. It's to do with the condensation built up inside due to cold weather

Pity aftermarket units don't look as nice.

Mine plays up randomly regardless of time of day or temp, its a shame because i much prefer the look of the stock cd player over an aftermarket as it blends in so nicely with the rest of the dash but ah well, she s gonna have to come out

I don't even think I even own a CD... Maybe look into aux input and buy an iPod?

Yeah that's what I will be doing just need some more $$ do u have any suggestions as to where it could plug into my iPod? Not heaps keen on putting it next to the ciggie lighter as I reckon it will get in the way of changing gears (manual)

Do you have an aux-in slot in the centre console?

If so i bought a cheap 5 dollar retractable cable off e-bay and works a treat :)
You do loose a little bit of volume though but think this is the case with all aux cables.
mod -> tune -> drive -> get bored -> repeat...

I have the aux in plug in the centre console, then have a cable wired up that sends audio and video from my phone and charges my phone too, just sit the phone in the cup holder for easy access (not while driving obviously).

Anyone tossing their post-facelift Mac ?
I like mine and it works fine but the previous owner scratched the crap out of it. I'm yet to try removing and polishing the front panel.

WTF is a 'CD'?

reminds me of the days when i had a walkman. had to glide instead of walking home from school if i didn't want to skip the CD. maybe just drive REALLY slowly
Apparently i've never been on live television before

Mine was pretty scratched up, used a bit of Meguiars Plast-X on it (plastic polish), just lightly and it came up like new! Sadly I've started scratching around the volume knob again myself but just needs another polish. I didn't bother removing mine to do it either.

Haha Jack, I remember I used to suspend my walkman in the car so it wouldn't skip. Was so happy when I got my first MP3 player, a whole 256mb of music!
