Clunking noise on full lock spec b 3.0r-b

Has anyone had this problem?

It seems to have happened this afternoon when I was turning into my driveway slowly on nearly full lock my passenger side either front or rear wheel is making a clunking noise, it seems to only happen on lock when I am turning into my driveway or parking spot slowly. Driving faster or taking corners fast doesn't seem to bother it just slowly. I have had a look thinking the tyre is either scrubbing or the diff is locking and the tyre is slipping but none of those are happening?!?!?

Has anyone had this issue or similar?

Probably your CV joint, when was it serviced last? They should have picked up that the boot was cracked or leaking...

It was serviced about 10k ago it's booked in for one on Friday but I'm just seeing if I can narrow it down before it goes in

Yeah the boot was probably craked or on the way out and has since split. Once all the grease has come out of it's protective boot it will click or clunk when turning. Mine wasn't noisy but it was split and leaking and I got a new one fitted at my last service for about $160

Last service I went to the Subaru stealership and they didn't notice, but that's no surprise they're shit

That or ball joint bolt.
Or even rack ends, taking thrust load off them at full lock can cause.
Would notice on sharp bumps. Done it all on my lib.

If it happens at full lock at both sides, it can be a worn center diff too. But hard to say from distance.

It only makes noise on the passanger side but turning both directions, hoping its not the centre diff

I doubt it is, and if it is, who gives a shit. No biggy.

If its only on one side im betting its ball joint or CV. both are simple and cheap.

Hey, Sounds exactly like what mine did. Does it make the car almost lurch when the noise is happening? If so then it'll be your Centre Diff. As it wears it starts to bind at low speeds. (you typically wont feel a CV)

Apparently they go between 80,000 and 140,000kms depending on 'luck and how hard you drive it' according to Subaru service guy.

Subaru service quote was a fortune, I went to a race mechanic in the end who did it for about half the Subaru quote price using genuine parts. Did the same for my clutch... Subaru wanted about $2400 + fly wheel machining from memory, Race mechanic did it all for $1350.

Checked cv's they were fine

Got serviced at pulse today, they couldn't seem to get it to do it even after a 20 min drive but to them sounds like my centre diff. Will see if it continues to get worse or disappear before further investigation / repairs

Mate i had the same thing in my Lib = Centre Diff. $1500 later and she's all G.
