Bc br knocking

Postby xyz » Tue Aug 28, 2012 8:53 pm

Had the coils on for a little over a week now and there seems to be a slight knock in the back. Going over the smallest bumps or even turning would cause it to knock.

At least I think it's knocking? Is this common and should i have anything to worry about?

Certainly don't think its common, mine have never done this, did you fit them yourself ? Have they done this ever since they were fitted ?

They were fitted by otr. Never really paid any attention to it in the beginning because i thought it was just things in the boot!!

Hopefully its an easy fix.. and if not that they have a good warranty program lol

Ah well in that case I'd just go back to the shop that fitted them and let them fix it :D especially if there only a week old

My passenger side front bc is also knocking

Have tried tightening strut bolts and making sure camber and hub bolt are tight (which they are).

Next on the agenda to check is the damper insert body - might need some greasing

Failing that I'll try the top pillowball joint and then finally strut top

Anyone else having these dramas with bc's??

Don't overtighten the upper strut to body bolts! :D

Check the lockring on the lower mount,it could'nt hurt to pack some grease in there between the mount and damper body... :D

I'd check the top nut first, hold the shaft with an allen key and ring spanner on the nut. Camber bolts to bearing holder tight enough? Bearing holder all good? :D
Might have to drop the strut to check the condition of the bearing/holder... :D
Pack out the interface of the top hat (upper spring seat) and lower top nut with graphite powder or similar lube as apparently there can be binding at that point when the steering is turned... :D

There's torque specs for all that on the Megan Racing site (similar coilovers to BC's) :D
That's all I know and the info is S/H

I might try an O ring to hold in the graphite powder at the top hat/lower bearing nut juncture (when I assemble the V1's)
