That looks great! Isometric views like this are always great and illustrate far better than any other view I can think of (and certainly better than outline pics).

Now you just need to make it animated, slowly coming apart.

Exactly what I was thinking!

When I get the dark perspex I'll re-shoot it, but do each item individually from the same point of view and subject to camera distance, starting with the biggest piece.

If I use a longer lens the perspective would be minimised/flattened somewhat for a ???? (opposite of isometric?) view in the final composited image.

Yeah, perspective will not work well for an animation unless each component was a 3D animated object - it needs to be as neutral as possible to make a true isometric view.

Individual shots from the exact same position would definitely help to neutralise perspective. It wouldn't be the opposite of isometric - isometric has no (disappearing) perspective.

Isometric is 60/30, orthagonal is 45/45 ?
Disappearing perspective is different again?
30 years since that was on the curriculum...
