Rattles!

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

Rattles!

So... name your rattles, the ones that shit you to tears.
I've also put a scale out of ten for how annoying they are. I think my scales are a bit conservative :P

Me:

* Sunroof blinds (6/10) - apparently rails need some KY Jelly on it. Common problem.
* Driver's side A-pillar base (4/10). Need to wedge some cardboard on it.
* Glovebox (5/10). If I apply pressure to it, it goes away. Seems to be flapping on itself.
* Centre console (3/10). I think it might be my iPod controller (Clarion EA1251) that I didn't secure properly.
* Dashboard cover (4/10). It seems to be something loose inside the middle, where the airvents to the windscreen are....
* Rear brake light (2/10). Need to sound deaden it (read: cardboard under the light :D) to lessen the muddiness of the bass hits.

Only annoying sound I have right now is tinkling glass when I close the driver's door.
(It still hasn't been repaired from the crook smashing it, an the door is full of broken glass :()
It's being repaired next week. You won't beleive what the final quote came to.....

yes, I've had a rattling sunroof, but a lube at Subaru fixed it.

e-tag rattleing on its holder (6/10) - not really a subaru rattle though..

Have you seen the new etags? Much smaller, and a much more secure holder! :D

Nope, way higher!
I'll give you a hint. They are replacing the steering wheel, and that alone costs $1400...

Mate of mine had coilovers fitted to his Forrester GT to firm it up, and had rattles in the back when the rear suspension went over a speed bump and had weight come off it. Eventually we pulled the covers off the top mounts - you could see where they had been working, so tightened them up, fixed the problem.

The sliding mount for the seatbelt on the B-Pillar, both sides, 6/10 because it's next to your ear.

Bumpety bump bump.

I have an annoying rattle that seems to only pop up under hard acceleration around 2500 - 4500 RPM. Seems to come from the gauge area.

(2005 Spec.B manual).

The rear cargo cover on the passenger side (9/10)
The centre of the dash, air con vent part (8/10)

Anyone experience the cargo cover rattle and have a solution. I will probably just remove it from the car altogether and use it as required.

Mine is going to Subaru to be fixed up tomorrow.

Mainly issues with the sunroof. Basically rattles & squeaks all the time (Open or closed). Really really really bad this one. Has pretty much been there since day one & Subaru keep telling me it'll get worse if they remove & try to fix it. I'm not going to accept that cop out this time.

A pillar on the passanger side & the dash in that general area has also been problematic. Everytime it goes in to Subaru they tend to fix it, but give it another few days & its back... Worse in most cases.

Oh, then there's the tail gate (I have a wagon - Go Team Wagon!). Can't put my finger exactly what the problem is there, but it has gotten worse since I've come back from my road trip to QLD.

Honestly haven't been overly impressed with the general build quality of the Subaru & their poor service (From my experience) hasn't really helped either.

We'll see what happens after tomorrow.

Yea mine rattles a little when I have it in place but i usually store mine under the boot floor, yes there is a special storage slot under the floor for the blind & the flap that hangs off the hatch.
Even a Subaru salesman didn't know that, The wife was playing dumb & asked what do you do with it if you need to carry a large load, & he told her to leave it at home or just slide it down the side. Then i walked over & had to show him where to store it.

Mine is going back for the 3rd time on my next service and the rattle annoys the piss out of me in the sunroof. It seems to be right at the front in the middle.
