Clicking Sound While Accelerating or Changing Down Gear??

Hey, I recently received my car back from the smash repairers and its turns out that at some points they've drained my sump and not refilled it. So for the last few days I've been driving on virtually no oil. I was accelerating up a hill a few day ago and now there is a clicking sound. This is when I discovered I had no oil it took around 5 - 5.5l of oil to get to max on the dip stick and while the sound got a little better its still very noticeable. Anyone else ever have experience with this particular problem?

Damn, thats bad, i would of been fuming, if its ticking i would suspect lifters?? as long as its not a knocking sound as this could indicate a big end bearing issue
Edit: just re-read it, only when acc or changing down gears, thats a weird one

Why on earth would the smash repairer drain your engine oil?? I'd be holding them responsible for any damages if so!

Yeah not sure why they would drain it?? I talked to a mechanic and said you'd have to drain it all to be able to change all they did on the front end. Either way its pain in the ass, I'm going to hold them responsible.

I see Consumer affairs in their future and more than likely your motor is effed.

Big end bearings with no oil supply = fuxxxd in my opinion.

Got sent back to smash repairs today, they said they had no fault at all sent it to their mechanic and now they want $4500 to put a second hand engine in. Wish I'd just written the POS off...

What can I do? For all I know he is right, the best I can do is fix it, sell it and never waiver from carburetors again. Sucks so bad, after all this I would of spent half as much on fixing the car as I paid for it, plus its all adding on to the debt lol. Thought I'd be better off after my apprenticeship with a newer car lol

Did they admit to draining your oil? Is it not worth bringing up the fact they never refilled it? That really sucks

They reckon they never touch anything to do with oils, they changed radiator and front end stuff. So I'm not sure whether he did or not, no one else seems to be sure either?
