Are there any decent tuners located in Sydney?

Saturday 11th of August I have a few spots left where I can tune the car with you in it to suit your driving style :) US Legacy guys will confirm I am the only guy who has managed to get the 5EAT auto shifting right without a gearbox rebuild ;)

Happy to load a tune and let you assess the car for yourself, if your not happy then I will return the tune to standard

Retuned enough Sydney dyno tunes to know the auto is still a dark mystery for the local workshops ;)

This sounds perfect because I'll be taking the car down to melbourne for a few months at the end of august and I'd love to have it done before then.

I just ordered a K&N panel filter which should be here in under a week, should I also get my exhaust done before the tune or just wait?

Can you also PM me a phone number or something so we can lock this in because im cashed up and keen haha :P

Get the exhaust done first

Be careful with the oil used to service K&N filters, Subaru MAF sensor have been known to cause issues if too much oil is used

Sounds like good advice. What do i do if there's too much oil on the filter? probably a stupid question but I'm brand new to modifying cars :P

Straight out of the pack it should pre-oiled so need to worry, but I think they need to be clean and re-oil very 15k.

To be honest I haven’t used them so not sure what needs to done with excess oil, I’m guess an absorbent towel might help soak it up.

Its best to use a dry filter like the HKS hybrid panel filter, its completely wash able, simple wash it under running water and let it dry and it’s good to go….. mine has lasted about 60k

Have you brought the cleaning kit for it yet?
If not by memory you get a spray cleaner and oil. Clean it and allow to dry and then very lightly spray the oil on, if you feel you have put too much on clean it again :)

I'm about to order a HKS panel filter through Phat, good thing is if you decide to go the HKS you can recoup most of your money selling the K&N to someone. I use to run K&N's in my Commodores and it fouled up the MAFs but it didn't affect them as much, whereas when I was at Repco we use to have a few people that would buy them for their Nissans etc and bring them back because their MAFs seemed to be more sensitive. But hey last time I was heavly into modding and working at Repco was about 5 years ago so a lot changes in that time :)

I also agree on exhaust, panel filter and tune. And if you want, also a better intercooler.

I have let other customers sample my tunes before, return the tune to stock, let them go get a custom dyno tune elsewhere and after sampling the difference, let them decide if my tune is worth the added expense :)

ok so I've sent emails to Matt from KiDo and PhatGT, sort of confirmed a time for my tune but still no reply from phat about my exhaust, does he normally take a few days to reply?

If he doesn't get back to me does anyone know where else in sydney I can get the exhaust done?

Im looking for either a full TB or CB not really fussed I just want it to be quiet (obviously not silent) when im driving slow but aggressive when i plant the throttle :P

That'd be a huge help

Is it easy to achieve what I'm after in terms of noise?

I would get a dump pipe, for the stealth back system. Performance, lots of low rpm torque and a great growl when you put your foot down
