$960 for 235/35/19 plus fitting, whatever that was.

A bit weird they say they are noisy specifically on Subaru. I don't know why tyres would be different noisy on different cars.
Maybe it is just that Subaru let more road noise in in general. At least before gen 5, they might be better now for all I know.

Tyres, cheapest place by far is tyresforless at smithfield.

Guard rolling/pumping/flaring go through www.phillbenterprises.com he will do the best possible job and genuinely gives a shit what the end result is and will take the time to do it right. He also owns a lib wagon so knows how far they can be stretched etc.

always under the impression that staggered offsets was a bit of a no no for the AWD system... someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Staggered offsets would be fine as long as the rims were the same width and you ran the same tyres, as the rolling diameter needs to be the same.

how would it be different to changing widths if same tyre sizes were used?
ie a 8j with a 235 on front and 9j 235 on rear, will have the same affect as the same sized rims with differing offsets.

The 9s would be stretched so the rolling diameter would be marginally smaller. Might not be enough to cause problems though.

Personal preference here, but I wouldn't want to be running say a 235/40 on an 8" front wheel, and the same tyre on a 9" rear wheel for the reasons Daniel has pointed out.

But say an 8" wide rim with +44 front offset, and +35 rear offset on a 235/40 tyre? More than happy to do that as the tyres would be getting the exact same amount of stretch.

what tyre would you run for this set up?

fronts - 18 x 8.75 +35
rears - 18 x 8.75 +20

im thinking 235/40/18

Wow, +20 rears is crazy!! I wouldn't go any bigger than 235/40s as you'll need as much room to play with as possible. Not to mention some pretty crazy guard work and camber to get it to fit.

id say you'd need stretch but unsure on gen 4 fitments. id say go 215 or 205

8.75 Id run a 225 with that offset as its gonna be a bit of work to get them to fit with the +20, I trial fitted a set and gave them a miss coz Im now lazy and dont wanna play guard games too much.

my point being more so the extra load on the AWD system in cornering due to the increased track from the offset differences. cant imagine a contact patch in a straight line will cause any strain, however cornering when the diff is doing its thing is a completely different story.... track width effects grip / causing under or oversteer etc. I see the problem being more so due to extra track when cornering (caused by width/offset/tyre size) than a size or contact patch issue only.

yeh ive made up my mind going to go 235/40/18 all round!
i was going to get sydney guard rolling to roll my rear guards. thats enough to get the rims to fit yeh ??

+20 at the back will need a lot of camber/guard flaring as well as rolling to fit! If it works, it'll look so boss though!

from experience im running a 225/40/18 on a 9 with +20 which is a slight stretch with rolled guards on my gen 3. im assuming gen 4 will be a bit better. you will deff need a roll if not a pump and run stretch ecspecially at the rear with camber to fit those
