Brisbane Dyno-tune advice

Postby RSK20 » Fri Jul 13, 2012 11:51 pm

I Need advice on best place for a chip/dyno tune on a stock B4-RevD in or around Brisbane?

Car detonates slightly causing boost cut on BP 98, unless I use octane booster. Hoping a remap will fix this.

APC, CNJ and Mercury have all said they can do it for around $1800 either with ecutek or unichip.

Contemplating buying a tactrix cable and looking for different maps to try.

UPDATE: A new MAF sensor has completely stopped all detonation, runs smoothy and boosts as it should.

Send KiDo Tuning a PM.. They can do remote tune if you aren't willing to wait for Matt to come back to town.. I am pretty sure he can do 01+ Subaru's but you could double check that too

Mate, definitely hit up Northside 4x4 Performance.
Lindsay up there was absolutely sensational with my B4 and took the detonation out of it whilse making it super safe and producing a heap more power.

He'd do it heaps cheaper than $1800 too.

$1800 seems pretty ridiculous. I don't know about that model but I would expect more in the range of $1000-1200

Don;t go near ECUwreck on a B4

it's a RevD so will be flashable, no need for massive ECUtek licencing fees or extra hardware
Have also heard good reports from the guys at Northside 4x4, i think Subievolution use their dyno aswell

Thanks guys, great advice. Lindsay at Northside 4x4 can do an open source dyno tune for less than half what the others quoted.

Definately do not go Ecutek!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can do remote tune if you are that way inclined, but you have to get a tactrix cable and wide band,
Definately go for open source, you can make more changes than what the people who generally do ecutek can do, They usually do a relatively basic tune.

Some people can do open source tuning for them, Only some though who actually know what they are doing cause the open source stuff doesnt officially support the B4's

Had a new MAF installed, made a world of difference. :)

Here's the dyno results pre-tune. Now need to track down a suitable JDM definition file to play with..
