Hey smiley.

Not a stupid question, quite a common one!

There are a few options out there. Firstly there is a product called wheel wax. Its designed for this purpose and is designed to withstand the high temps.

The next option is to use a sealant like Zaino. I pretty much always do this when i do a car as there is always a bit left over.

The third option is to use whatever wax your putting on your paint on there. Its safe as the rims are probably clear coated anyway. This may last ok or durability may be very bad depending on the wax. I know for a fact optimum car wax (OCW) lasts at least 3 weeks at which point you should have washed and waxed the car again lol

In regards to a wheel sealer, Autoglym have a product named Alloy Wheel Seal and I find it great. Its the only product Ive used to date which will not allow tar to adhere to the surface. Brake dust is easily removed. It does require application once a month to keep it sealing, but I highly recommend it.

Have you ever used it Dan, or any other Autoglym products for that matter? And if so, what are your thoughts on the Autoglym products range?

Nah mate i havnt.

One of my points of difference as a detailer is my use of boutique products. The stuff i use can be bought but its quite expensive so isnt kept by most retail stores, with the exception of zymol at autobarn.

My cheapes wax i have, not including the great OCW is $55 the most expensive one is a touch under $200, soon to be replaced with one a touch over $300

Thats a fair call. And being that you are in the know is what prompted me to ask you.

Ive used some of the Zymol products in the past and I have found Autoglym a step up on many levels.

As a question of curiosity, if I asked you to detail my car (body only) and offered you to use my range of Autoglym, would you consider it? My motive behind this is to get your opinion of the Autoglym products compared to the products you know and use regularly (which seem to give outstanding results)

Yeah sure. Also what i would do for the good people of Liberty ASN club is attend a meet and demonstrate some products for you. Ill show you my stuff vs your etc give tips. Just arrage a date time and location and ill show up.

I can show you how to wash properly what to do and more importantly what NOT to do lol

Sorry to drap up an old thread but does anyone know how to get in contact with DMS Detailing? I've been trying for days! Either the phone is engaged or no one answers. I've filled out the form on his website but still nothing.
