squeaky noise, sounds like coming from gearbox area

every time i start to move forward from stop i get like a squeaky noise from near the gearbox area in a na ej25 engine it also happens when i change gear for a second. if i put it in neutral and give it slight revs i can make it squeal. any help appreciated.

May be a dual mass flywheel squeak or thrust bearing is getting old.

in my '04 liberty i have a whinging noise which started off the same as you have just described . except ive been told its in my gear box :/ up for about $600 to pull out the gear box and open it up + costs ! xD getting to be an expensive car to own lol .

Yeah mine does this too... sounds like a squirrel/chipmunk is living under my car... Been told its the dual mass flywheel... anyone done the conversion to the single mass flywheel? Thoughts and costs?

Definitely get a single mass. Genuine kit is $1000 or near that which includes clutch for, bearings, retaining clips, clutch plate, pressure plate, flywheel and flywheel bolts. Labour at a dealership is near $700. If you get the clutch kit then just goto joe blog mechanics to fit it. Probably half the labour costs.

Where can you get these clutch kits from? I think it's something I am interested in doing in the near future.

Genuine. Dealership. Give them your vin and ask for a wod clutch or single mass flywheel conversion kit.
