CEL on 08 Liberty TBSTI

Pretty new to the forum so i thought i might contribute.

Picked up my 08 Liberty TBSTI in Satin White about 3 months ago. Been trolling the forums looking for advice and info and found this forum to be extremely helpful! So far I've picked up a new Corazon Grill and HKS Panel Filter from PHAT GT. (yet to be installed along with a few other bits im trying to get my hands on)

I was driving home from Woolies the other night and noticed the CEL on along with the flashing 'CRUISE' control on the dash. After doing some research here I tried multiple restarts and checked the hoses and caps on the car to no avail. See'ing as I couldn't actually check the CEL code myself i decided to call it in and today, brought my car into Ray @ ART in Heidelberg for help.

Ray was busy so i spoke to a chap named Alvin. Really friendly and seemed to know what he was talking about. Funnily enough though as soon as i hand over the keys to him the CEL disappears (sigh). I figured i should get the CEL checked out and get a service done while i had it there anyway.

So fingers crossed i get some good news later this afternoon !

I get wary when it comes to CEL lights. Given that we are not mechanics I am cautious to take my car to get diagnosed by a shop or a service centre as they could make the issue out to be a whole lot worse than it actually is.

Where are you located? I suggest next time you get a CEL, see if a forum member with a scanner is close by and can help diagnose what the issue is that way you are armed with some information before you take it to a shop.

Fingers crossed it is nothing major :)

The error code is stored in the ecu after the light goes out. It's there until reset, so they should be able to tell you what it was.

As above, the CEL will still be stored in the ECU until cleared. I've heard that after a certain amount of ignition cycles, the CEL will disappear? That might not be correct in this instance though?

I bought a cheap scanner off ebay ($35?) and it's cheap safety in cases like this!

Ok so got my car back on Friday. Ray and Alvin checked out the CEL which from memory was P410 something about injector pulse error ?

Mentioned that the stock ECU has certain thresholds that arnt realistic and throws a CEL and suggested remapping the ECU to fix it permanently. I had mentioned i was fishing around for second parts (exhaust, turbo, TMIC) and it was probably wiser to get the parts i wanted first than have a tune which seemed to make sense.

All in all looked like a clean workshop with people who seem to know what they're doing. Will be coming back again.

They even dropped me off and picked me up from the train station! :)

Chances are im expecting the CEL to come back but fingers crossed it wont be too serious.

P0410 is the secondary air pump.

http://engine-codes.com/p0410_subaru.html

A fairly costly part to replace. Or the other option is to disable the pump, place blanking plates to resolve the entry points, and disabling the code.

Could you please confirm the exact code, if you can remember or find out.
