To get 200atw. You could do that with spare change from $5k. You already have an intake + catback. Stuff paying someone to install stuff, get your hands dirty and get into it. Its all simple stuff you really cant get that wrong.

- Go see Michael, do a FMIC for ~$900 ( Instead of wasting the same on an TMIC )
- Get a fuel pump $200
- Sort out a dump with a high-flow cat $500
- Grab a Kinugawa or Kando TD05 18G 8CM $750
- Get a tune done. Dont go to MRT or Pulse. Michael and others can recommend you one easily. $1100 tops.

= ~$3450

These days "200kw" isnt really that much for a Suby. Back in the 2000-and-somethings 200kw was the magic number, but with advances in tech and quality gear, its getting easier. However 200kw in one Suby wont feel the same as 200kw in another. Its all in the tune and combination of parts. Dont be too hasty to slap down your cash and tell your tuner " i want 200kw ". A dyno tuner could take a mild Suby and make the print out say whatever he wants.

Think about how you want the car to drive, where in the rpm band you want power ect. You dig?

I dont see what people see so frightening about swapping a turbo or fitting an exhaust themselves... most of this shit is direct bolt in replacement.. just give it a go..

Each to their own man. What one man wants to do another one might not want to. Personally I'd prefer to pay someone else to do it, that's just how I am. I'd prefer spending my time doing something else. That's what it comes down to, how much is your time worth? It takes me way longer to do something given I'm a noob, and I don't have all the tools at home, not even a jack (which I will be getting soon). I'd prefer save the hassle and pay someone to do it, and luckily for me I'm in a situation where I can afford to do it.

Agree about the time thing.. I guess for me it doesn't take that long..

Eg.. fitting front and rear sway bars, avo mounts and end links in total took less than 45 mins..

A shop would want well over $100 to do the work.. so for me I'm happy to give up 45 mins of my time to save over $100 which I can then put towards more parts..

With 2 mortgages I don't really have the luxury to throw money away on things I can do myself..

Plus for me it's more fun and more rewarding, built not bought in a sense..

But that is just a personal preference.. nothing shits me more than the car show style guys who claim they built these cars, but realistically all they have done is paid a workshop to do everything.. in these cases the credit should go to the shop that built it, knot the owner who simply provided a parts list and a credit card..

But yeah, each to their own though..

I did BYO core and was charged $845

An Ebay core about 550x65x280 is a perfect fit. The gains to be had from a shiny expensive big brand intercooler at these power levels would be not worth it.

And how much was the eBay cooler? Few hundred dollars? I can tell you now that my Fmic through Michael with a plasmaman core is not much more than buying the eBay one and having him do the piping

My ebay core i supplied was about $150 tops, used it in 2 cars, never had a drama. Easy as. Through Mick, $845 got me the piping done, a BOV flange and a new battery to suit the setup.
