Adjusting windscreen washers

Postby tangcla » Wed Feb 20, 2008 12:08 pm

How does one adjust the windscreen washer nozzles? I find that the bottom right corner doesn't get wet with the spray...

Chances are they'll be a hex pattern. Fine a socket of the right size, slot over and twist very, very gently.

If they're inset into a unit, then using a jewelers screwdriver, do the same.

Actually you're better off with small Thai children. It's less messy with the insurance when they accidentally fall off during a hard corner.

Have you checked the nozzle itself, Tangcla? I find that after a while and many waxes and polishes later the nozzle tends to get covered with wax or polish paste or just gets clogged with dirt. Try a bit of general cleaner on it and see if it improves.

Yup, clogs sometimes, remove it and get an air blower and blow the crap out of it. Good as new!

Fairly sure it's not clogged, but good point, will check it when I remember :)

Actually I was thinking you might want to check for crimps in the washer hose to that side? Perhaps you didn't install the Zero Sports Cool Action properly and it snagged one of the hoses?

Speaking of spraying, it annoys the living crap out of me when I'm behind a car on the freeway and they shoot their washers. I think a mere 20% of the fluid actually reaches their windscreen, and the remaining 80% shoots up into the heavens and peppers my bonnet and front windscreen with their overspray. Arg! :angry2:

Haha no... definitely sure that the problem was there prior to the Cool-Action II :D it's not that it doesn't spray - it just seems to be aligned wrongly...

The headlight washers give me the shits. I want them to be turned off-able.

Haha. That's okay. I keep a a brick in my glove box now so when I do encounter such people I just chuck a brick through their rear window. :comando:

I find a toothpick works well. or a small screwdriver. To stop polish residue entering them mask them up, as you should do with all rubbers and plastics when polishing

I played with it, can't adjust it (it seems like it's a fixed unit) and it's not clogged.
