Central Locking Query

Central Locking Query

Postby WeeGraeme » Sat Aug 18, 2007 4:49 pm

The manual for my 07 2.5i says that certain central locking mechanisms can be configured by the dealer so that one press unlocks the driver's door and two presses unlocks all of them.

Other than taking it to the dealer and asking them to do it, is there any way of knowing whether mine will support that configuration. I believe that I have to take it to the dealer to have it changed, but it's a 40 km trip each way, which would be a bit of a waste of time and fuel if they can't even do it.

Thanks.

Id be interested to see if this can be done on your own without having the key reprogrammed by the dealership.

Id be keen to get this done, just dont wanna pay for labour especially if its a quick job that can be done yourself.
Cheers,

Rosso.

Heya guys, atlast I can provide something useful..

I this done to my MY04 just recently... I asked if I could make the switch myself, but the guy said no... they hooked it up to the computer and changed the settings onboard.

Didn't cost anything but that might be cause I just had the engine replaced by Subaru Australia (long story different thread).

So yeah, now mine will unlock only the drivers side door with one button and if I press it again, it will then unlock all the other doors. NOTE - It gets abit of getting used as my wife initially was left standing waiting for her door to open too :)

So yeah, needs to be done at the dealership. Hope this helps!

I would, but when I took delivery, the salesman told me that the first service was at 5000 km.

Thanks. I'll remember that, although I don't think it will be a problem. I don't think I've ever had to pick up your wife at all. :-)

I think this is the main reason why I don't want this done, after much thought - all passengers would keep tugging at the door as soon as the lights blink!

Hi ET, not exactly sure what the big end bearing is... but if it is a new short engine... then yeah.

I'll start the thread in the 2.0L Turbo section now..

When I had my 5000 km service done, I enquired about this when I dropped it off. They said that this was a big job to do. I can't understand why that would be.

That's what I would have thought. I had a 96 model Camry and it could be reprogrammed by the owner, by simply putting the remote into a slot and pressing a button. It seems amazing that 11 years later, Subaru haven't mastered that yet.
