Cheapest headunit upgrade for MY04-MY06

Postby Fluf » Thu Jun 28, 2012 2:51 pm

Heyall,

So I still haven't found a solution to the stacker giving up in my wifes Lib. Any idea what is the cheapest way I can remove the stock on and replace it? I'm starting to not care how it looks, I just cannot listen to anymore radio!

Not cheap im afraid mate.
~$400-450 for fascia
~$500 for decent second hand 5 channel amp (PDX-5 comes to mind). Bout $800 if new
~$50-100 for decent wiring
~$200-400 on decent single din headunit
Add install cost unless you want to do it yourself.

Total of 1150-2000 depending on if you buy new or used and if you install yourself or professionally installed.

It can be done by utilising the stock amp however that requires hacking the cable between current headunit and amp to add rcas.

So, just doing the headunit is difficult/not the best idea...oh man...Just spent 1400 servicing this car, there is another 800 to go (fuel filter/door actuator/brake pads, I'm shit with my hands...) and now this...oh man...

Anyone keen on winning lotto and fixing/supercharging my favorite car I've ever owned?
